Heavy Metal
i just learned this last season what this even was. A friend of mine took me along to his friends house in December who is an aspiring taxidermist. They were working on a roman nose mount for a guy and my friend Mark was the only one that has actually seen them and they wanted his opinion. Very cool, definitely stands out different. Usually a very steep rise right after the nose on up to the brow. Must be Italians?! LOL! (NO OFFENSE TO ANY ITALIANOS!!) It's also common in sheep, rams, goats and other similar/related herd animals. Do a google image search for Roman Nose Buck...and you'll get a an idea...even from the non deer pics. Show your pics if you have any!
Tominator
This one shows it pretty good. The butcher also noted my deer had a "parrot lip." Notice how the big nose pushes the upper lip over the bottom lip. I've never noticed it on a deer before.

fly
I guess I really don't know what a "Roman nose" looks like to tell you all the truth. Is it the short curved nose like on the one in the first picture or the long nose with a bump as in the second one?
goodnottygy
My son shot this buck with his bow... It shows the roman nose very well. It is a sign of an old buck. I never aged him, but the rounded top the nose is shown well in this picture.

Rhino
Here's a couple of bucks a friend of mine snapped a picture of back in 2004. The buck on the left has a classic roman nose. Although the one on the right has a better rack he doesn't quite have what I consider a roman nose. Here's a classic roman nose buck that caught an arrow launched by me this past season. Heavy Metal
Here is mine. I don't see it in most of these. Maybe it's not as pronounced/obvious as I had imagined.
