wtnhunt
Looking at some different lcd tv's, and think we have decided on one of these three brands. Not a huge price difference between the three, the sony is a 60hz where the philips is 120hz, but to be honest the picture on the three are all sharper than others we looked at. Kind of partial to sony, but at the store the philips had just a slightly sharper picture and is a little cheaper than the sony. Could have been the settings, don't know. The jvc was sharp too and priced the same as the philips, but I really did not look at it quite as close, the store was nuts. Sooooo, anyone have any good comments or experience or suggestions on any of these lcd's?
hammerforged
William - we were looking at the same 3 back before Thanksgiving and we decided on the 42 inch Philips. Partially due to the extreme difference in the Dynamic Response Ratio. The Philips has the highest of the LCDs out there and when looking at the 3 side by side the Philips had the better picture. My nephew came to visit for thanksgiving and we were watching Wall-E one night and his wife made the comment that the picture was better on ours than it was on theirs (they have a Sony). He was not a happy camper with his wife for a day or so after that. Just my 2cents.
preacherman
I have a Sony and love it. Don't think you can go wrong with either one of the three.
NS whitetail
I've been thinking of buying a 42" or bigger and any of those three would be a choice for me. Wal-mart and some other stores around here sell much cheaper flatscreens with weird names, those I would definately stay away from.

The_Kat
I have an emerson and love it....but back to the point out of the three you listed I'd choose the Phillips. Heres something to consider though, Chris said it best when he said Vizio. Vizio is american made, and has great quality for the best price out there. They have the highest rated customer service, and the lowest return/warrantied ratio of all LCD tv's on the market. I learned all of this after I bought my emerson. Let us know what you decide! swohiodave
sorry, its not on your list but Vizio, walmart starting selling them, my parents and grandpa have one 32 inch and 52 inch, both are excellent and consumer reports rates them a best buy for what that is worth, i will be buying one and they are fairly cheap at walmart! wtnhunt
Thanks for the suggestions. Have seen the vizio's at wal mart, and comparing to the sony, they really did not impress me. That said, thinking we are going to probably go with the philips. It is about $100 cheaper than the sony and seemed to have a sharper and just a better/cleaner picture than the sony. wtnhunt
I bought the philips 120 hz 7000 series at sams club this morning. The quality of the videos played back on dvd are about as perfect as I could ask for on this philips screen. Going to have to upgrade to hd model sat receiver in the living room now though. The sat pics are good, but some of the shows we watched the pics are not quite as good as videos. Kind of expected that though.
