fly
Took the family out Eagle watching today. Have done this before, but never seen as many as today. I think we saw 20-30 in all. I can see why they are off the threatened species list! Truly a magnificent creature. If you get the chance to take a trip I strongly encourage it. These were near the Alton IL. area. Shaun_300
Great pics! I wish we had more eagles here, I think I've only seen 2 balds and 2 goldens in my whole life!

brownie65
see them by the hundreds on my way to work & home. They are all over the river, in the marina where I cross the bridge. There are literaly 50-60 & more out on the ice. The boat that is taking the pipeliners out to the island keeps a strip of ice busted up, the eagles sit on these chunks to get their fish. All the way down to Clarksville they sit in the trees along the river or are out on the ice. They are major scavengers, will eat anything. See them on some of our hunting places. They tear a dead deer up.Pretty birds though.
stevebeilgard
haines, alaska has the largest concentration of bald eagles. there are 20,000 (?) on the first 22 miles of the chilkat river each february. the national bald eagle center is there, also. a worthy wintertime trip. right now is perfect. I never knew there were eagle tours and specific viewing areas for these birds right here in my own back yard! I guess since I grew up with them I never really thought much of it. Well, after yesterday it's something I could get into.
Adjam5
A truly majestic bird indeed. We have quite a few around here in our cliffs and mountains. Thanks for sharing them pics.
Grant-KS
That's awesome!!! I've never seen a wild eagle here. Mom has seen a couple in the past, but not I.
wtnhunt
That is cool. We should probably have a few of them around here. Pretty sure we saw one(immature eagle) a couple years ago here on a few occasions, but never could manage to get a pic of it.
c_lou
It's pretty sad, there are so many around where we live, I almost take them for granted. There is one that fishes in the pond behind my in-laws house. He will sit in a pine tree not 30 yards from their house.
aksheephuntress
...I love eagles....- -really glad to hear that they are making a comeback in a lot of states.... -I remember when I used to live in southern Indiana there were 28 nesting pairs successfully re-introduced....but they were still endangered at that time.... -great to see this!
