What could it be?

Went out looking for hogs this past Saturday with my cuz. We got to one of his stands just before daylight and could hear something in the woods in front of us. At first we thought it was some hogs bit after listening to it for a little while it sounded like some kind of "clanking." It almost sounded like something being beat together. Now we are a good ways from any houses and were the only ones in the area at that time.

What could this have been? Besides bigfoot.....

I know that hogs will chomp there jaws when they are mad but could it be loud enough to hear it from a great distance? This sounded to be about 200 maybe 250 yards inside the woods.

i'll go with the sasquatch theory. that clanging was him getting his frying pan out to cook you.

No, can't agree with that! Bigfoot is a vegetarian. Look how healthy he is...

The wind can cause things to bang, clang , rub, whatever. I remember sort of scaring myself to the mystery of a strange sound while bowhunting one morning. The noise would get louder as the wind picked up. It turned out to be a plastic no trespassing sign hanging loosely on by a single nail.

Not sure what it could have been. I know that there are times in the woods where I can hear things that sound closer than they really are. It's amazing what you can hear in a quite woods.

Nearest house was over 3 miles away.

No wind at the time we heard it.

We listened to it for about 10 minutes and it stopped. We would hear it and then it would be about 2 minutes later before we would hear it again.
