Bass Pro Bionic Blade, stupid name thats for sure. But I found out that they are the HMG blanks from Fenwick. ;) Years ago I talked to the product specialist at Bass Pro. At the time I was buying nothing but Fenwick's HMG rods. What made it really cool was that Bass Pro would have buy two get one free! Which is why I now have mine own rod selection in the basement still in the cardboard tubes! ;)

Depends on the technique.

My latest addition is a g-blanks custom rod built on a Raincloud blank. It's 7 foot, medium light extra fast action with a split grip cork handle. It's set up with titanium low profile guides and topped off with a Diawa Pixy baitcaster with upgraded ceramic bearings and Carbontex drag washers. I usually spool it with 8 or 10 lb test Seaguar florocarbon line.

I have a 5'6 inch heavy action Bass Pro tourney special (40 dollar rod) with an abu garcia c-4 mag on it, have caught over 220 muskie on it, it is beat up awful but its perfect for the smal streams where i muskie fish.

I have a Daiwa Triforce Z rod that i have caught prolly over a thousand fish, from bluegills to a 30 pound flathead cat (while fishing for white bass) have been through many reels on that rod, has 3 eyelets replaced over the years. I believe its time for me to start upgrading.

The Ugly Sticks are good tough rods they are pretty heavy for their size though. I like them and still use them. I've various IM6 blank based rods that I've had for a long long time and have really been put to the test. IM6s are still good blanks to this day.

To me the best balanced light weight tough rods available right now are All Star's. Lew's made some tape on handle spinning rods that were really fabulous long ago. I've got two that are over twenty years old and they still catch fish. I've replaced tips and some guides on them but they keep going. I've caught 8 inch rainbows and 18lb stingrays on those rods.
