fisherguy
Well i may not be good with laundry but i can cook pretty well. I got home from class and found my one roommate by the stove (scary situation, she can't cook at all). She was boiling some eggs. She asked me how long it should take, and i said, "if you throw them in boiling water, a bit under 10 minutes for hard boiled." Wanna hear her response? "oh, these have been boiling for almost an hour but they aren't floating yet, i had to add water twice." Apparently she was under the impression that once they are cooked they float to the surface. Glad i am not eating those eggs!!
Turkeygirl
Re: College cooking.. Whoa, lmbo!! Those sound like some scary eggs! In the dorms at my college, I don't stay in one but they don't allow you to cook fresh meat in the dorms!

Tominator
Re: College cooking.. Yeah. Actually, if they float, I think that means they're rotten. Couple hours eh? Yeah, I'd say they're done.

markyj987
Re: College cooking.. I never had a problem cooking when I was in college. Of course, my diet consisted of ramen noodles, Spaghetti-O's, and beer. When I had some extra money, I would go to Subway....LOL
Guest Finn
Re: College cooking.. That's funny. If she's good looking, she'll be ok. That lack of knowledge will probably be waived.
wtnhunt
Re: College cooking.. LOL. That is pretty funny. Kind of reminds me of the first time my youngest sister made mac and cheese. She did not drain the water and wondered why it was so runny .

So we bought a grill and cooked outside the front door. Nothing they could do to us. We would have a venison BBQ every Thursday. We were the most popular kids in the building not to mention a great way to meet babes. Try it!! Ranger
Turkeygirl
Re: College cooking.. LOL that is cool Ranger. I should suggest that to the people in the dorms. I think that the guys in the guy's dorms probably sneek stuff in but still, I think any meat should be allowed, duh

We actually had a "game cleaning room" we would bring our birds and fish to the room and they had hoses and tables to clean your game; Even saw guys drag whole deer down the steps to clean up! I swear to you! We would clean our game, and retreat to the dorm floor to use the community kitchen! Grouse nights were always popular! As for the eggs: If you cracked the eggs open and put them in bacon grease, we always wait for them to float...called the "floaters" still in the shell: Hmmm, guess they would be 'poached" As for your roomate, sometimes good looks are enough to get by! Thank God I can cook, since I aint real pretty
