alaskaguide
Just got my brown bear skull back. This was a 9 and a half foot brown bear taken on a solo hunt. I saw almost 30 bear and past up on 10 smaller boars. It was a wild night listening to bear chase Silver Salmon in the river a mere 50 yards from camp. HUNTINGMAN
Skull looks great, did you make a rug out of the hide?
alaskaguide
Bear Rug Yep. I should have it back in March. I spent $3200 on bear rugs this year, one black and one brown. It's crazy how expensive taxidermy is getting these days, especially up here. Well, at least it will be worth it. I won't be shooting another bear unless it's a 7ft plus blackie, or a 10ft and a half brown bear. I have a solo brown bear bow hunt on the Alaska Peninsula this year and hope to take one well over 10ft. I am really looking for an 11 footer that would get made into a full life size mount. After that, I doubt I'll kill another brown bear. Although giant brown bear hunting is addicting!

alaskaguide
Awesome Hunt It was an awesome hunt. It was only 3 days, yet I saw almost 30 bears. I passed up on 10 different bears. My camp was on a sand bar right next to a very shallow river braid where Silver Salmon were spawning, it was easy for the brownies to pick them off. I had bear around me all day and all night. I have grainy video of a lot of the action. I could pan the camera during the evening and pick up several different bear from 50 to 400 yards down the river. All night long, while trying to sleep I heard bears chasing salmon and fighting over their catch. It was amazing and definitely not for the faint of heart. colorado bob
Conglads on the brownie. I see you are from Kenai-----I've got a cabin on the other side of the river, Soldotna. Plan on taking the better half up there this summer for a little salmon fishing. Maybe we could get together for a cold one. There is a good hole for red's right next to the cabin or if the silvers are run-----got a boat----we could run the river. CB
