Doc
I've heard Iowa is drastically increasing their non resident tag and licensing fees. Anyone have some facts on this? I heard is was something like up to near 800 bucks? That can't be? What could they possibly have there that would be worth $800? Is there some kind of exotic big game there that I haven't heard about? Basically, in a state like that, a non-resident license of that price simply means that they don't want any out-of-state hunters. Why wouldn't they just say that? I wonder if there are any states that have raised the cost of non-resident licenses so much that they actually started taking in less money than at the older lower prices I remember that back some time in the late 80's, PA raised their non-res. license fees so much that I never did go back there hunting again. The same thing happened with my brother-in-law from Canada when NY raised their non-res. license fee. He used to come down for bow and gun annually for years until they did that. Not any more. There is one case where the state lost a lot of money by letting greed take over. Just cranking fees doesn't always work out profitably.
