Steven
What song just cuts right down to the core and touches you in a way no other song can. Since the first time I heard it (I was going through a really bad time) "The Heart of the Matter" by Don Henley just tears me to pieces. I always listen to it when- and only when- I have some stuff going on that I don't want to deal with and it helps me get my act together. I've been listening to it for about the last 2 hours straight.

GWSmith
Steven, You have no idea how ironic your post is. Sometimes we all have those things that we would rather not have to deal with. We tend to hide those things from the support availible to us for no good reason. What I can tell you is what has worked well for me these last few days. It is to depend on those you are close to...even if they live acrossed the country. Oh Yeah...I put the "Black" album by Metallica in and hit the repeat button. Edited February 10, 2009 by GWSmith

Bowtech_archer07
Garth Brooks--The Dance touches me pretty deep too. A few others are Holy Water by Big and Rich, American Man and Arlington by Trace Adkins, and the new one by Jason Michael Carroll, Where I'm From. Yep, you know you have friends that will always accept you here Steven. Hang in there chief. To answer your question.........hmmmm, lots of them. Depends on my mood. Listening to Springsteen sure takes me back. So does Buffet. Back when I was dealing with the worst of my cancers it was Christmas Lullaby (I Will Lead You Home) by Amy Grant. I know you're not a religious man, but that song just does it to me. I want it played at my funeral. I'd have to say that one breaks me up more than any song I've ever heard. Lyrics version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPn40aZSNnY Anothe decent version, not as good as Amy Grant though. skip to the 1:15 mark. Nut
I have 2 songs "Comfortably Numb" Pink Floyd Hello. Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home? Come on, now. I hear youre feeling down. Well I can ease your pain, Get you on your feet again. Relax. I need some information first. Just the basic facts: Can you show me where it hurts? There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ships smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin. When I was a child I had a fever. My hands felt just like two balloons. Now I got that feeling once again. I cant explain, you would not understand. This is not how I am. I have become comfortably numb. Ok. Just a little pinprick. [ping] Therell be no more --aaaaaahhhhh! But you may feel a little sick. Can you stand up? I do believe its working. good. Thatll keep you going for the show. Come on its time to go. There is no pain, you are receding. A distant ships smoke on the horizon. You are only coming through in waves. Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin. When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse, Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now. The child is grown, the dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb Since Mellencamp came out with his last album I felt like this song was meant for me now Longest Day Seems like Once upon a time ago I was where I was supposed to be My vision was true And my heart was too There was no end To what I could dream I walked like a hero Into the setting sun Everyone called out my name Death to me was just a mystery I was too busy raising up Cain But nothing lasts forever Your best efforts Don't always pay Sometimes you get sick And don't get better That's when life is short Even in it's longest days So you pretend not to notice That everything has changed The way that you look And the friends you once had So you keep on acting the same But deep down in your soul You know you, you got no flame And who knows Then which way to go Life is short even In it's longest days All I got here Is a rear view mirror Reflections of where I've been So you tell yourself I'll be back up on top some day But you know there's nothing Waiting up there for you anyway Nothing lasts forever And your best efforts Don't always pay Sometimes you get sick And you don't get better That's when life is short Even in it's longest days Life is short Even in it's longest days

wtnhunt
Depends on the mood really Steven and on what is bugging me. "The Dance" or "If tomorrow never comes" by Garth Brooks are a couple that quickly come to mind. "Angels among us" from Alabama is one that surely pulls at the heart too. Like said by someone else, can always talk to someone here. Keep your chin up bud.

hutchies
Oh man there is a few................ It won't be like this for long by Darius Rucker is one that really gets me lately cause my kids are growing up so fast. Lightning by Eric Church..............again because it's about a desparate father trying to provide for his kids the only way he can figure out. It makes me thank God everytime I hear it that I haven't ever been that desperate and blessed to have always been able to provide for my family.
