Rem308
Saturday I went back home and took my newly setup NEF Survivor 223 and gear. I actually started the morning at daylight doing a little predator hunting with my SPS-Varmint, and called in a grey fox, but he outwitted me and was gone before I could even get the scope on him. But, after a few different setups, I decided to setup a target and begin break-in & the site-in process. For starters, I should mention that this was on the farm, my bench was definitely not rock steady, it was somewhat windy, so I knew this was going to be the day to have some fun and get the process started. Next time I hit the range I'll be able to really get precise. But, I started at 50 and got hitting on target, then moved on to 100. It only took 4 shots to get within a few inches of the bullseye at 100, so I didn't adjust any more until after going through the break-in process. I enjoy the break-in, I think it's pretty neat to watch the point of impact 'walk' across the target and then begin to settle down. After shooting and cleaning and shooting and repeating the process, I got dialed in pretty good and enjoyed quite a bit. Now I really can't wait to get to range with the sandbags and tighten it up! Adjam5
Breaking in a gun IS fun:). What ammo were you using? If you get a hold of some Black Hills .223 50gr V-Max stuff, get some. The most akrit:p factory stuff I have found for varmints with minimum hide damage. Good Luck with it.
Rem308
Always fun to go out and play with a new shooter. But.................... where's the snow????????? Yes, I did mention the snow that fell in my other post...that is at my home...this weekend I travelled over to the East side of the state to visit my Grandpa (health issues) and also get out to the farm to clear my mind. They don't have the snow that we have, (well, HAD, the 60 degrees on Saturday and Sunday took care of most of it!).
