fly
Did some 4 wheeling off route 12 just West of Missoula in Idaho. Some good trails around the white sands camp ground (about an hour from Missoula). It'll be next year (spring 2010) before I get that way again. Unfortunately the Missoula resident that showed me the trails died of a heart attack last fall. Edited February 12, 2009 by fly

elkoholic
I haven't been down to the Missoula area much in the past ten years or so but there were some good trails (old jeep trails really) in the Petty Creek/Petty Mountain area and one two track that went from Blue Mountain to Petty Mountain. Check out this link http://www.travelmt.com/mt_sites_3974_Blue+Mountain+Motorcycle+and+ATV+Trails.html There was some good elk hunting in there also. If you want to venture north this spring there is an excellent trail heading south from Marias Pass. Then there is always the trail system by Lake Koocanusa, which is maybe a three to four hour drive. You can ride along the lake for miles. Personally, I am not much of a trail rider and use my Grizzly 660 as a work machine but the Yamaha dealer (Penco Power Products) where I purchased it was a fountain of information about different trails in the state and I would think that the dealers in Missoula would be also. Good luck finding some riding companions and some trails to tear up.
coles
ive never ridden trails at all. i have a grizzly 660 also and just use it for plowin snow and haulin deer and just ridin around my grandparents property. I have done some snowmobiling around marias pass so i know where that is. Its just that my dad and brother have snowmobiles and im the only one with a 4 wheeler so i am kinda screwed in the riding partner department
