Re: NY Round Up? Where?

Thats it wigs, T-rex. And he is HUUUUUUUGGGGEEEE !!!!!!

Summerflower and I had a good time yesterday. Covered a little ground and I even explored some new ground that I haven't been on before. After he left I finished mowing the lawn and took the four wheeler out for a little ride and checked out a couple more stand sites. I just hope we see some wildlife. It would be great if someone could stick something too. Well I have to play in a golf tournament today so I will check back in tomorrow morning.

Sure wigs you can bring your clubs, we can hit balls in the woods or we can go to a course about 25 minutes away. Ha ha. I ddint play very well yesterday but with the two ringers I had with me it didn't matter, we won the tournament. What a great course. Lots of fun. I have another one on Friday and that should be the last. Then its time to put the clubs up and concentrate on hunting season.

I will be sending out a email today about the get together and things we need to bring and do.

No doubt!!!! No doubt!! grin.gif

I have been thinking about treestands..... I was gonna briong a friends climber, but dang, I hate climbers.... so I was gonna buy a cheap loc on and a climbing stick....but then I got thinking, why not just get a cheapie ladder stand (Hunter's View 15 footer)?

It is easy to set up, just as easy to transport as the loc on and stick, and I feel very secure in it.

What do you think - opinions please??

Re: NY Round Up? Where?

Dan, Dont bother you can use mine that I'm bringing. Its a 15 ft Ladderstand that has enough strength to hold me up there in the air so that says something to me anyways.

Jim, You will get a hit on my record.......got a speeding ticket heading to school one day.

Other than that all info has been removed since I'm in the witness protection program....my real name is not Vinny Kapeesh cool.gif

Re: NY Round Up? Where?

Howdy GW,

I would be glad to introduce myself. Sorry I missed you guys yesterday, I was home with a sick daughter.

I live in a small hamlet called Pierrepont Manor which is about 15 minutes north of Pulaski on Rte. 81. I own 26 acres of hunting heaven in my back yard. When I'm not there I'm hunting at the Horny Buck Lodge in Talcville. When I go to the southern tier I hunt near my hometown of Hamilton.

I'm 39 years young. I have a beautiful wife and 2 kids. When I'm not outdoors I support my deer hunting addiction by posing as a school teacher. wink.gif

I had a great deer season last year. I harvested a nice 8 point that scored 131 green and then finally 123 B&C. If knew more about this wire I would attach a picture. It was my biggest buck ever. I've tagged a couple 10 pointers but this bad boy had mass.

I'm afraid I don't fit well with the rest of you guys. I'm not a bow hunter and probably never will be. My love is my muzzleloader a T/C I have owned for over 20 years. I start my deer hunting up here in early October and hunt till almost Christmas. I don't really need a couple extra weeks of bow hunting. I own a bow, but do not know how to set it up. I would really like to try 3D archery someday.

Thank you for the information about the Round Up. Perhaps I can come next year. That weekend my son is getting baptised the weekend you chose. I will bring my muzzleloader.

I hope to visit with you guys more often and if you happen to be in my neck of the woods please feel free to stop by for a beer. We can sit on the deck and watch the deer in the back yard.

Happy Trails

Re: NY Round Up? Where?

Ranger, Sorry in a way to find out your kid is getting baptised that weekend...you would fit in just fine....but you are needed there alot more.

Any hunter is a perfect fit...we all do things just that little bit differently that makes each unique and a wealth of knowledge.

One of the things that I have seen successful hunters do is always look for another way to do something, hunt a different way, or use a tactic that is unfamiliar in the effort for success.

You sound like a very avid hunter and thats always a good thing.

I have been hunting since my father would let me and I have just taken up the sport of bow hunting in 1999.....I'm a newbie.

I am also happy to hunt with rifle or bow so I get my fix ASAP in the fall.....LOL

I really only started bowhunting to get in the woods when it was a little bit less hectic and I've been hooked ever since.

Respectable thing being there for your son....i know a few people who would tell the wife to handle it and take off for the woods....Zero sense of balance for them.

One more thing...we could get you setup with that bow(if it fits you).....most of us have spare parts kit boxes that rival the parts dealerships at your local auto dealer grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

Re: NY Round Up? Where?

Thank you for the warm welcome GW. I too believe that all hunters should work together to share knowledge. The reason I said what did was because I saw the Round-up was written bow hunting only and cringed a little. SOME I repeat SOME bow hunters take on an elitist tone. I have learned to watch my step around them for I know that they will never see the light. For example, I was talking with someone from the NY Big Buck Club at the State Fair about my 8 pointer a couple weeks ago. The VERY first question he asked me was "was it taken with a bow?" When I said no a 16 ga. shotgun he basically shut me off. "Oh" he said and started talking to other people. Pissed me off and I went on my way. I'm sure we all know people like him.

Like I said before, if any of you are up my way stop by and say hi.

Happy Trails

Not this group of nut cases! ! Most of us, or I at least love hunting with my ML and of course my shotguns. Bow season is just a way to get out there a little earlier with out all the crazy city folks running around with a gun shooting at anything brown. I also see many many more deer during bow season than any other season.

Re: NY Round Up? Where?

OK, I got this idea last night - let me know what y'all think.

What say one of us buys a 3D deer target to bring to the Smackdown. All that attend will chip in on the total cost - you know, split it up. We can shoot the ever loving crap out of it when not hunting.

Here's the best part part - come time to leave, we donate it to the Camp, as a thanks of sorts. Leave it there. (if thats OK with Jim)

I can definitly chip in on it, but wouldn't be able to buy it outright to bring - ourt closing should be any day now - so things be tight!

Let me know
