total disaster
I am looking to buy a new fish finder but not sure what to get I am looking for color or a really clear B&W I need one and switch to bow for fishing or buy 2 as both my fish finders went on the blink last season... I'm on a budget but open to all reviews on the newer fish finders out there
Texan_Til_I_Die
Just as a general rule of thumb, compare the resolution of different types to get an idea of the picture quality. The higher the resolution the better. For example - 640x640 beats 480x240. I've been using nothing but Lowrance electronics for years. I've currently got a 7 inch LCX-17m graph/gps on the console of my Ranger and a color LMS-334C graph/gps at the bow. I really like the color and I'm planning to upgrade my LCX-17m to a color unit this year. No field experience with the new High Definition sonars, but the demos look good. Randy
How much do you want to spend, and what are you fishing for mainly? Also are you fishing a river or a lake most of the time?

Texan_Til_I_Die
If you're going with a Humminbird, I highly recommend the Side Imaging units. Well worth the extra bucks. Lowrance is also coming out with an add-on unit to give their HD's side imagining capabilities.
