(and sister :D) We have been called out to a picture post contest with the Mathews losers! Should we waste our time and hand their butts to them? I dont think they know what they are asking for....

Just ask the mathews boys who won the 2009 Vegas Championship....

You can't take just Vegas as a base. It's biased............If I could get enough speed out of a Hoyt to shoot 3d with I would shoot all of them and see what I thought. Don't know which I would like more. Most of their target bows have a 310 or lower IBO. That means I can't get over 270 out of them with my drawlength. Indoor is more about having a low poundage bow that fells good and is very forgiving. Mathews doesn't make anything with an 8.5 to 9 inch brace height to be as forgiving. Outdoor you have to have a decent speed because you have to judge yardage. Look at most outdoors shooters and see what is in their hands.........It's like comparing oranges and apples. Both have great qualities but each one was created for a specific taste. I can pull 280 out of my Apex 7 and it is long ATA with a generous brace height. Thats why I shoot it indoors and out.

Not sure how Vegas is biased; everyone shoots the same distance with strict controls on the scoring. These guys are so good, any of them should be able to win on a given day. Yet it's the guys with the Hoyts in their hands who get that little extra it takes to win at this level.:p:)

As for 3D, one of the skills required IS judging distances correctly. So if you plop an arrow in at 250 fps when you've judged the distance correctly, you'll hit the appropriate spot. At any rate, there is no carte blanche for those of lesser skills to overcome that with lightening speed. Note Sec. 11.1 in the following regulations.:D

Now, as for those deer the Mathews guys are showing off on this thread - very nice. Alas, my own hunting skills are wanting and I can only seem to come home with smaller ones. That's something I have to live with, I guess.:( Good thing I have a Hoyt to help me out.:)
