The actual hunting is pretty simple. It's the pre-season scouting and preparations that are most involved.

My friend and I scout and set up 5 to 6 blind locations based on maximum activity sign and sightings. We interview locals who live near or pass by our hunting areas and get invaluable insight on activity times and habits.

Then we hunt the blinds 4 to 5hrs each to identify the hot ones.

I feel that I carry pretty light. I have a full 3d camo suit, and instead of a vest, I only wear a bag around my waist to haul my gear. I carry:

- Shotgun on sling and shells

- Slate Call, Box Call, Mouth calls

- bottle of water

- hunting knife (on belt)

- decoy (compacts down small in bag)

- Extra mesh facemask

I take my time to keep everything organized in my pack and pockets. I keep my camo gloves in my back pocket opposite my wallet. I keep my facemask in my front left pocket, etc. It never feels like the gear is weighing me down. It's actually one I bought from AdvantageTimberLou a while back. It feels like I'm just hiking through the woods, but after listing it all, I guess I do carry a lot.
