Gator
Cape, I have a 12ga, had it for 20+ years, first time I cleaned it was about 2 years ago, only problem I have ever had with it was 2 years ago, it was pretty cold out, it wouldn't eject a shell, that's when I cleaned it, never another problem with it. Tominator
Re: Double Feeding Piece of ...... Sounds like an extractor problem. I'd take the bolt apart and lube the extractor springs as good as I could. Didn't the 1400 make Petzal's "worst gun" list?
wtnhunt
Re: Double Feeding Piece of ...... [ QUOTE ] Didn't the 1400 make Petzal's "worst gun" list? [/ QUOTE ] Pretty sure the model 1400 was in that worst list Jim posted a couple weeks ago.
BoDice
Re: Double Feeding Piece of ...... I've never had a bit of trouble with mine...... You say you stripped it down to the last nut & bolt..... Don't take this personally ....but are you qualified to work on guns or just good enough to get by? Did you take the extractor from the bolt when you stripped it? If so; did you make sure you put the spring back in? I know it sounds stupid..... But I've been Remington; S&W and Ruger certified for years......I've had LOTS of friends bring their guns that "they" have worked on....I've seen it all. Can't really say what the problem might really be.... Are you using the "REALLY" cheap low brass ammo; you know; the one with the 7/8 oz shot and VERY low dram weight? Sometimes Auto's need that little extra "umph".....try a 1 oz load. I will tell you this.....MY 1400 won't shoot federal steel shot worth a CRAP!!!!!! Shoot the Remington Game Load or another type of shotshell......see if that's the problem. Let us know what you find. P/M and I'll help anyway I can. Be Good! "Bo" ...
