So, where was the "pointless" screw?

Boy, a 6' 8" frame makes a normal bow look like a toy bow. :D

If you were looking at the bow upright its on the bottom of the cam with 2 holes to the left and right....on this pic its towards the right of the cam right of the strings....

whats your draw length Will...106 inches...sheeeeesh:p:D

how far away was your wife when she took the pic...30 yds???:D:p:D:p

Nice looking bow,I dont think mathews bows have those pointless screws since they are draw length specific cams and dont need draw stops.Just there way to maximize performance.Any part on a bow that is there from the factory is usualy there for a specific reason and should never be removed unless checking with a proshop or manufacturer first.Keep shooting streight.

That pointless screw gives you your wall, at full draw this draw stop rests on the string so you don't have a spongy feeling at full draw. It should feel rock solid. I'd go and get another if I was you.

Yep. I agree with Kevin here. I don't know too much about Hoyts, but at 6' 8", I've got to believe your draw length is longer than 29". Heck, I'm 5'-nothing and my draw is 28".

You might be over drawing that bow which is going to stress out a lot of things like limbs, string, cams, etc.

Also, those high end bows are balanced pretty precisely. If you take a little weight out of that cam, it could create problems down the line.

shouldve went with the mathews Will...:D

j/k bud....actually im not...

you should maybe go to another dealer or get another opinion on that like the guys suggested above...not something you want to be messing around with...

i also agree that your draw is entirely too short for your height...just guessing, you should probably be at a 32" draw or maybe even higher...

kinda sounds like the guy you went to didn't want to go through all the trouble of fitting you correctly, so he just rigged it up so you take it and leave.

From my experience, at least with mathews, alot of times with people of abnormal sizes, specific cams have to ordered to make the draw lengths fit...;)

good luck with that Will, let us know what you get figured out.

I threw the red flag...had to take a second look...and from what i see, your draw is WAY too short...

1.) your left elbow is bent pretty good, which isn't normally bad, but it looks like youve got a lot more room to extend your arm...

2.) your right hand index knuckle should reach to the hard part of your skull directly behind your ear with a release on...looks like your coming up short in that department as well...

jmo:D:D

Guys I see now what your talking about yeah its a draw stopper.....I drew back my bow while looking at it...it rotates on the cam while being crew back and comes to a stop on another part that dosent move....

OK boys...I put some locktite on that screw and I took the smallest allen wrench in the world and cranked down on it...It rattled after every shot I took......but not anymore :D

Will, I believe your arm should be slightly bent, not locked at the elbow. A locked elbow invites torquing the shot with no give.

It may be hard for such a big guy to get a properly fit bow.

Maybe a visit to the Big and tall bow shop is in order:D.

Also, be careful about cranking down screws on the cam(s). Many are aluminum and the screws are steel. That makes for a easy stripping of the threads.

It doesnt look like a bad fit. Hard to tell by pics. I'd agree with most that a man 6-8 would be a lot longer draw, but hey, everyone's different. If that's what your dealer measured you as, and your comfy with it and can shoot, then go with it. If you feel like you need to be pulling back more, take it back and get the stop moved. Or read your manual, a lot of makers have easy adjustments that you dont even need a press for. If your left arm is almost straight, but not locked, and that right index knuckle is firmly planted behind your ear, then you're pretty dang close. But a man your size can crank the draw weight to the limit! :D

Yeah shooting the string loop.....the right nuckle of my index is behind my ear....my arm does feel locked but its comfortable and Ive never hit my arm with the string once since Ive had the bow...Ive shot it prolly 125 times already.....
