jesse8953
Does anyone know if these are good rifles:confused: remington model 799. Bass pro shop has .223 for $369.99 after mail in rebate.
Strut10
The 799 is a Zastava mini-Mauser, made in Serbia. I have not specifically handled the 799. But I did just buy a Remington Model 5 (Zastava .22 rimfire) and I'm quite impressed with the overall quality. From what I can see.......$369 is a buy. If it's what you've always wanted.............go for it.
doubleA
They are a little rough around the edges if you ask me but they do have an appealing price for general public. The ones I have handled had a rather crude laminated stock and the bolts were very rough, though the bluing was decent. I would much rather spend more and "up grade" to a CZ 527 if you are wanting a mini mauser based rifle but that's just me, your mileage will vary.......................... David_218
I handled one at a Gunshow and found the action to operate a bit rough. The one I handled was chambered for the .223 Remington.
WaCoyote
I think they're very nice looking guns. A friend of mine has one in 222 and I really like it. He didn't mention it's accuracy but it sure is purdy.
