jesse8953
How many shot holes should your pattern have in the kill zone?25 yards,50 yards? I don't know if I should spend the extra $ on another choke tube:rolleyes:.I'm shooting the tube remington puts in there turkey gun.
PotashRLS
Is it a turkey choke? How does it pattern now? I was always told minimum of 10 in the head/neck kill zone. That shouldn't be a problem normally at 25 yards but will be at 50. Getting a new tube won't automatically make your gun a killer at 50 yards either. Much range time is needed to determine that yardage cutoff limit. Then you must stick to it when in the field.
jesse8953
I got 44 in the head and neck at 25 yards with #5 1 3/4oz 3inch and 26 in the head and neck at 50 yards with #5 2oz. 3 1/2 inch winchester supreme shells. PotashRLS
26 pellets at 50 yards is quite good in my opinion. But that doesn't mean every 50 yard shot is a done deal. I would probably stick with that choke. I don't know that a different choke will improve your pattern significantly at 50 yards. Best bet would be to ask around to see if you can borrow chokes of people you know just to pattern before you buy. Turkey chokes are not cheap. pendog
I am not a brand pusher but try the Federal 3 1/2 flight control wad # 5s, i shoot them and have great patterns from 30-50 yards. I shoot a truglo choke out of my Moss.
WaCoyote
I think 50 is pushing it. Typically people pattern at 40 for turkeys and the minimum is 5 kill zone hits that you'll need. Not saying you can't shoot further but I'd rather kill one at 40 than wound one at 50.
