Stickslinger
I'm looking to purchase a new shotgun that I can use to hunt small game and turkeys. I currently have a Mossberg 835 UltraMag which I'm trying to sell and was looking at something under $600 that I can use for everything. Any suggestions would be aprreciated. bluelund79
What type of action are you looking for-pump or auto? What is wrong with your current firearm? If you are looking for a shorter barrel for turkey hunting, just purchase a second barrel for your current firearm?! I own 3 barrels for one of my 870's and use it for deer and turkey. Until I started buying guns, that was the only gun I used for everything, anywhere I went....
Stickslinger
Nothing wrong with the Mossberg, I'm just looking to get something in 20gauge. I would like to buy just one gun and not have to buy different barrels, I've been looking at the Remington 11-87 in 20gauge with the screw in chokes so all I would have to do is change the chokes. I was just curious to see what everyones opinion was.
jm23494
If you are going to go with a multi-purpose gun in 20 gauge I would stick with an 870. You can pick one up cheap and once you get used to it you can shoot just about as quick as a semi auto.

Turkeygirl
Mossberg 500 20 ga is my recommendation...I have a 500 20ga and then a 500 20 ga Super Bantam for turkey....my regular 500 20 ga I've used for small game, deer, and turkey, just switched out my factory chokes...it has performed well for me since I started hunting. redkneck
I'd hang on to the 835 if you can, you prob wont be able to get much for it and you never know when you may need a backup.
DocMort
Go with the 870 not a single person can argue with its success
Stickslinger
If I decide to get a new shotgun it will be the 870 in 20gauge. I've seen them for $299 and I that fits my budget, the only thing I would need to buy would be a turkey choke and I would be set. Thanks to all that responed.
