Want to get .204.......

Recommended Posts

I want to get a .204 rifle for varmint hunting and here is my dilemma. I already have a scope for it, but am unsure whether I should just get a encore barrel (like the one in the classifieds) or if I should get a seperate gun. I love my encore and figured it would be cheaper to just get the barrel. Are there any pro/cons of just getting a barrel versus a totally different gun? Of course if money was not an issue I know I would get a different gun but I really do not have to much to spend.

Well, with a bolt action how easy is it to get a realistic good shot off at a coyote if you miss the first time? Now I can see where it would be easier with an AR (which I can not afford now) but not a bolt action. Any thoughts there?

Getting a second, third and even a forth shot with a bolt action is possible. It just depends on the situation. I have taken four shots at long distance with a bolt action but I was in a large open field and the coyote didn't know where the shot was coming from. But a single shot will make you think and concentrate more about the shot.

Buy the barrel and get out there and have fun until you can get what you really want
