GWSmith
Jay, You want to get in touch with Doc here on the forums. He and his family have made bows for many years...I'm sure he could give you some very sound advice. Heres the search results from Webcrawler: LongBow
VTbowman
Re: Longbow info wanted The prices of custom bows are quite high, but mainly because they are all completely hand made items. Even manufactured bows are mostly hand made. So you could say they are all custom by nature. If your just getting into trad bows may I suggest you try a recurve for your 1st. They are a bit easier to tame then a long bow can be. At least thats what I have been told and I followed that advice. I have shot both and the recurves are more forgiving IMO... Less hand shock for one... To me, I have to say $500 to $1000 for a trad bow is over the top. Are they worth it? They may be to some, but not me. I would not spend any more on a trad bow then $300. That would be a total custom job too by ChekMate. They can run higher but not as high as say a BlackWidow bows... Spending $100 to $200 on a trad bow is reasonable for a 1st timer if they do not want to go used. Try Ebay for good deals on nice used bows...
