PotashRLS
Always. I feel naked without it and no longer go in the tree without it. I actually was the ambulance call as a newer EMT when my high school football coach/ phy ed teacher fell out of a tree while bowhunting. He was lucky. A local Hunter Safety Instructor who owns a Bow Shop fell out Twice. No brains no headaches I guess.
hoythunter37
I ALWAYS DO. I just cant seem to get up in a tree without it. I have had some pretty close calls about fallin out of a tree and ever since a friend of the family fell out of his stand and broke his neck. Thank god he crawled back to his truck and someone found him he is alright now. But I just cant seem to be any feet of the ground and not wear one. I have since made my dad and brother start wearing them as well.
layin on the smackdown
Wow...what a sad story...and a heck of an eye opener...thanks for sharing, i hope at least one person has a change of heart after seeing that. I always wear a safety harness...i cant go up a tree without one...i am scared to death of falling...my first few years i didnt wear one because i figured my ladder stand wasnt that high..but after getting into climbers and hang ons, where you go up 20 + feet, i have to have one on or im just not going up the tree. rhine16
As of this year I do, at least when I'm in lock ons. Finally pulled the trigger on a HSS and it's worth it in my opinion. When I'm in my climber I don't....
redkneck
Most of my time nowdays i'm in a ladder with a bow probably about 14 feet or so up. Sorry, i know maybe it's dumb but i cant make myself put a harness on at a height like that. My lock-on is a different story. Its around 20 feet up and i would not like to hit the ground from that height. I own a harness and i think i'll try it out this year. I rarely get into my climber anymore. Come to think of it, i think someone stole it.

He was in a low stand less than 12 feet bear hunting. He dozed off and fell forward and landed on his feet. That was all it took!!!!!!!!!!!! You should reconsider. You only have 1 life. Trust me, it is worth it. Never say never.

Tominator
Why wouldn't you? Today's designs are so comfortable, you really don't even know you have them on. Like I tell my buddies "I didn't beat cancer 5 times to fall out of a tree...."
redkneck
I know it's a no brainer. Like wearing a seatbelt in the truck. I decided to get mine out of the shed and give it a try next year. I know i wont wear it all the time, but surely if i get in the habit then i can be in it most of the time. redkneck
I'm referring to my little bow stands in my little muddy spots....hehe. Cut me a little slack....old habits die hard. I will no doubt wear it next year in my lock-ons. I'm just being honest, i dont always wear my seatbelt, and i know i wont always wear a harness in a 12 foot stand. But, hey, i'm coming around slowly! Redkneck <-- Stubborn

jesse8953
I am scared of heights:( so when I am in a stand it makes me feel secure to have a harness on.I got my stepson bow hunting this year and gave him a harness that come with the tree stand and I make him use it! The stands we use are only 12 to 16 foot off the ground but that is all it takes. Both of us have a rifle fest in front so it would be hard to fall out,but with luck like mine why take a chance:D. redkneck
Alright, i'll make the commitment to wear it next year. No promises that i wont break the rules, BUT....seeing as how i've never even put mine on, this is a big step forward. Next thing you know i'll put a seatbelt on my motorcycle.... But we all know your right........

But we all know your right........ Hey redkneck you're one of the family and we're going to do what we can to keep you safe. I just regularly started using one a couple years ago. Working in a trauma unit of a hospital I've cared for hunters who fell out of stands and screwed themselves up pretty bad. I know about old habbits. Get a comfortable easy to wear harness and you'll find you'll wear it just like your boots.
BearClaw
I always wear mine. Use the HSS, simple to use and I feel naked without it. Redneck, the people on this site really do care!! And when it comes to your safety, (and caring about your family) slack isn't a good word. It's on the same line as "backbrace", also not a good word! Good hunting! wtnhunt
With hang on stands and climbers I do. I do not use a harness with my 12 ft ladder stands and blinds though.
AdvantageTimberLou
My family depends on me and if a treestand accident takes my life for lack of a safety harness I feel I failed my family and that is not going to happen if I can prevent it. Unless your a squirrel, use a harness when you head up into a tree.
