I worked the same two birds I've been working most of the season this morning. Closest I got em was 80 yards. They only have about 40 hens with em(yes, I'm serious), so they really aren't going to go out of their way for one hen. May have to go after another gobbler before the weekend is over.

Well today was opening morning......I had a weird hunt......:rolleyes:

It was a perfect morning......Clear....Little to no wind....sun shining....Great morning for gobbling....WRONG:mad::(. I heard 1 bird gobble 2 times at day break. I have no idea why the birds didn't want to talk this morning..... I talked to some buddies and they said the same thing...

Finally around 7:45 or 8 I finally found a bird that wanted to work....I called him into about 30 to 40 yards.....Only problem was, he was behind me... I thought for sure he would come down the road and follow the real hen or at least come to my decoys....but he didn't he went around me by staying in the woods gobbling and strutting most of the way around me.:rolleyes::(

It was fun to finally work a bird.......Glad I got 3 more weeks of this!!:D:D:D

Sounds like a fun hunt Todd! I went out this evening and sat under one of the 2 trees the gobblers have been roosting in. Wouldn't you know they picked the other one tonight. I heard them fly up...10-15, so I'll have company in the morning. The gobblers sounded as if they were a good 75 or so yards on one side of the hens though. Probably try to get around them and see what happpens.
