When are you gonna lay one out for the team? Have not made it down south to my cousin's place yet because of us hunting in predator calling contest last weekend and we have the last contest tommorrow night. The season opens up in the north zone (where my place is) next weekend, April 4 . I am headed out to a place with some guys from work for the weekend and if I don't get one then I will be hunting around my place for the rest of the week, I will see what I can do :D:D

fly
I'll be hunting the 7th-10th on public ground. Ive been going down there for almost 10 years now. I've only taken one big gobbler, but have scored on several jakes. If I call in a jake within 30 yards, well... he's seen his final roost. Good luck everyone. slaw
I heard that Fly, the magnitude of the hunt can't be measured by beards and spurs....it's all about the game.

Gus
Got back from my little trip out to west Texas with some buddies for opening weekend and we never seen or heard any birds . Not sure where they went because back in the fall when I went deer hunting with the same guys, there was turkeys everwhere and I shot a nice tom. I was ready to kill some birds and we couldn't find them. Got to my place and hunted it Tuesday to Thursday and finally heard some gobbles, but I guess they are still kinda henned up because all they would do would answer me and never come my direction. I seen several hens around my place and got several gobbler pics on my game cameras, so I will be back after them this weekend. I have a couople places here where I live that I might get in a few hunts during the week, so we will see what happens.

Gus
Nice bird fly, congrats I have until May 17 to get one, but sure wish I could get one soon, they are about to wear me out. Guess I will stick my gobble shaker in my vest this weekend and see if that will work for me also, so far my other tactics hasn't done the trick. slaw
Well I filled my first tag with a jake, and he is small, I do have the pics but I'm hoping to upgrade . Next thursday my 4th season starts for a week, but hunting is tough, thats why I whacked a jake, he was the only thing willing to play the game.........nice bird fly, wat to get -er -done. fly
Not sure but it looks like we're done. We did pretty darn well, and even better we all kept up with posting our stories/progress! Don't always have that with these contests. It's been fun being on team Final Roost! These contests always add a little something to the hunt. I'll be looking foward to hearing your stories and seeing your pictures this fall. Happy Hunting and God bless! >Frank
