Sickening video

This is a video of Sgt Mark Colombo of City of Boston PD, fighting with a large male drug dealer... watch how many people drive by looking and walk by without helping. More than likely he was justified to escalate on the use of force continuum but that depends on Mass. law which I am not familiar with. Even though probably justified, you can see by the responses how much people hate cops. Watch both videos in their entirety and see the difference. In the second video the sound is on and you can hear the officer giving him commands and people saying the cop needs help, but they don't.

I'd like to think that someone would have thrown the cop a hand. That is just ridiculous for him to have to fight the guy that long without a little help. Boston must be chock full of sissies that a man with a pair doesn't show up and help out. Disgusting.

I even scope out traffic stops out in the rural areas when I come upon them, to make sure the cop is OK.

That could have been really really bad Ken. Don't know why the cop did not taze the thug. It was very clear that the cops gun was able to have been gotten to when they were tangled up(even after listening to the clip with the audio, the leo did not appear to be in control enough to know his sidearm was safe), just don't think if I were a cop I could let a criminal get that close to my sidearm. He was very lucky it turned out like it did. At least a couple people did help at the end, don't know why the lady vidoe'ing waited to call 911 after the leo had the suspect under control.

A lot of police agencies still do not carry TASERS due to litigation. With all these liberal lawyers claiming that TASERS cause deaths (not realizing that in custody deaths are usually caused by positional asphyxiation, or excited delirium - or not caring as to the cause of death as it is a money issue for the attorney), many agencies are waiting a few more years before implementing them. The same thing happened with OC Spray when it first came out also. Lots of lawsuits until they were all dismissed after medical review. TASERS are in the same boat right now. In NYS, that officer would have more than likely been justified to use deadly physical force (not knowing all the circumstances that led up to the altercation).

Hate to see stuff like this happen. Every man on these forums has a job to go to, and a family that wants him to come home also. Imagine having to deal with situations like this from time to time, never knowing when you will have to? That is why you notice officers in better shape now than they may have been in yesteryear.

Incredible that no one helped. Maybe the Redsox took the last pair of cojones with them on the road that week.

So many people that just did not care. Boston is lucky to have LEO's that put their money where their mouth is, in the form of protecting the public.

Police have a tough job for sure.

Is this what society has become?

I'm not surprised. Fighting, carrying guns or defending yourself is discouraged in most places back east. You're supposed to let them do whatever they want so they don't hurt you then call 911. Most of the people watching probably never had been in a fight and didn't know what to do anyways. I kicked the **** out of a burglar one night when I was in New York and nearly got charged with "useing excessive force" I think was what they said. It happened too fast and I just went back to old habits.

The cops here are on their own too. You have to ask permission to help them from what I learned when I took the carry concealed class. Guess I'll just watch until they beg me to help so I don't get into trouble. :D I guess they may think you're a threat and shoot you too if you don't.

Man that is such crap!!! If I was walkin by and saw that I would have not even have thought and jumped in to help. What kind of man does it take to walk by when it is obvious that he is in need of some help. Thank god that, that supid crack head didnt get his gun or didnt injury him. And Finally some people came to help. But that was beyond that call of duty. Good job to him.

Whoever is behind that camera needs to be punished. Even if you're afraid to intervene of it was a woman they could have put the thing down and gone and found help- called 911 themself etc...

Pretty pathetic.

I've seen a few even more disturbing than that.

If you listen close to the audio on the second link, near the end the woman says she is going to call 911. Kind of late on her part as that was around the time that the few guys jumped in to help.

Was thinking the same thing.

Perhaps a lot of people associate cops with fines for speeding or other traffic/parking violations (THAT THEY DESERVE) and don't feel inclined to help. Or maybe they are just sissy's.

Glad to see he was honored and not charged with brutality.

Above and beyond the call of duty is right on. I'd be in there like a dirty shirt, even though I'm not that big of a guy. There's no way I could watch a police officer struggling like that without helping.

I've always gone by the phrase or motto, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" even if it doesn't always go my way ...:o:)
