Tominator
Saw this yesterday on ESPN. 21' boat, one engine, 50 miles off shore. Not the brightest move. From a Coast Guard standpoint, wow. Odds of finding them alive are about 50/50 I'd say.
Guest TennesseeTurkey
They said that the boat was an ok choice for going out as far as they did because it had some kind of special hull that was nearly impossible to sink...but that didnt mean it wouldnt capsize.... Most hulls now are foam injected and won't sink even if they break up. If they capsized they could survive, but that's not the issue. If they ran out of gas or had engine trouble, it will be very difficult to find them. 50 miles on one engine in a 21' boat is just plain stupid. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Looks like they have found one of the 4 missing. Said he was clinging to an overturned boat. They said it isn't Smith or Cooper (the NFL players that were on the boat) it was one of the other 2 that where with them. Tominator
Coast Guard Capt. Timothy M. Close says Schuyler told rescuers that the 21-foot boat was anchored when it flipped Saturday evening in rough seas. Schuyler told rescuers the others got separated from the boat and that he had been clinging to it since. Anchored? In 15 foot seas? 21' boat. Compounded dumb. Glad they found one. Odds of finding the other 3 if they were seperated from the boat, <5% IMHO.

Number one, it's a needle in a haystack. If they are together, maybe. Then there's the shark issue.

AdvantageTimberLou
Prayers being sent that they are found safe and alive. I seen the picture of the one hanging onto that motor and the Coast Guard coming to save him. If that is not a picture of determination and the fight to live I don't know what is! Praying that the other 3 are found safe.
