Casey
A meat hunter or a trophy hunter?? I consider myself a meat hunter first, I like to hunt those mature/young does. Don't get me wrong I will take a big buck first if it gives me the chance.

Rhino
Given the 2 options "trophy hunter" However, I prefer to consider myself to be just a hunter. Why? My main reason for hunting is the total hunting experience. Sure I enjoy the meat and a trophy critter too but many of my most memorable hunts I've had over the years left me going home with an empty game bag and a big smile on my face. NS whitetail
I hunt for meat, but I try and kill a trophy to get the meat from Here in Nova Scotia, we are allowed 1 deer per season and it has to be a buck unless you get picked in the doe draw
layin on the smackdown
I would have to say that i am both...the only time i have a green light on a buck is if he's older than 3 1/2 (unless he's 4 1/2 and i think it is worth it to give him one more year)...other than that, the only reason i will not shoot at a doe would be circumstantial, or i just don't feel like dealing with draggin her out;)
Tominator
Depends where I'm hunting. If I'm on the land I have permission on or my land, I'm a trophy hunter. If I'm on the land Ohiobucks has permission for, I'm a QDMA hunter, any doe, or big mature buck.
ruttinbuc
Like Al, (Rhino) I am just a hunter. I pass a lot of small bucks in hopes of the good one. I'll shoot a doe for the freezer. I enjoy the hunt for what it is. Most of my memorable hunts had me come home with tags in my pocket, as well.

Jorden
I hunt just because I love to hunt. I shoot does because we love to eat venison. I let the little bucks pass in hopes of one day getting a shot at that trophy. I cant really say I would classify myself as either, I guess;)
hoythunter37
Well I would have to say that I am a meat hunter. But I have always wanted to put something up on the wall, so at some point i am a trophy hunter as well.

Doc
I give away every bit of venison that I take anymore, so I guess I don't fit the definition of a meat hunter. At least not meat for myself. I have enough people around me that really have to struggle to get enough protien in their diet, so I think they need it more than I do. As far as trophy deer are concerned, I am always on the lookout for the for a good rack, but I don't really obsess on it. Since I am primarily a bow hunter, I still get pretty darn excited when I have even a doe in bow range. We used to say that any deer with a bow is a trophy. Well, that is still true, and I hope I never lose the appreciation of that fact. Doc
