OJR
It seems that is happening all over the place! I am glad I am not in the work force at this time! My oldest son has been on "vacation" for 2 months and he doesn't know if it is going to be longer or not!
redkneck
Man, i know where you're coming from. I work for a parts supplier to GM. Things are shakey, but no layoffs here yet. Dont know what the future holds. Everyone i know is looking at either layoffs or pay cuts in their organizations.:(
wtnhunt
That really stinks, not an easy position to be in for you or for them. Sorry to hear that Frank. Hope for the best for them.
jm23494
Sorry to hear that, it's a tough time for everyone in one way or another. Hopefully things will turn around sometime soon.
Rhino
Sorry to hear you have to go through that. It will sure turn your stomach eating away at your gut. Been there...done that before too. Between 1984 and 1986 the company I worked for went from having over 400 employees down to 26. I handed out more than my share of grief during that period. On the last cut I was on the receiving end of it. The worst thing was everyone cut in my department had found new jobs. There weren't any jobs available when I was cut. Thus the price of my above par performance compared to the others was having to scrape by for over a year before I landed another job in my line of work. Adjam5
Yeah, that is a tough thing to do. Let go of people who have been with you for a while. I hope they are able to find work soon. Construction is dead all over. I have been out of work just a bit over 5 months:(. The company I worked for, went from 215 electricians to 36. I know all too well what you/they are going through. GWSmith
Ouch just dont describe whats going on lately...it's a struggle for alot of people. I'm home when I should be working...but it's hard for the employer to justify paying out money when there are little to no customers coming in this time of year. fly
Sorry to hear that Frank. Gotta be a tough thing for you to do. Do you see the stimulus package helping or hurting your business?
texastrophies
Sorry to hear that. This time last year we had about 170 hourly employees working here, now we have less than 10. That will likely change to zero in the next couple of weeks. It is kind of ironic, you keep your good people and get rid of the not so good first, they find jobs and then when the good ones have to go, they can't find any jobs. rookieee
Sorry to hear that Frank. Gotta be a tough thing for you to do. Do you see the stimulus package helping or hurting your business? Frank right now we have more than 25,000 homes and condos in the Miami.FT Laud and Palm Beaches for sale and to top it off there's approximately 7 to 10 homes or conds in all stages of foreclosure every week so to answer your question no i don't think it will help at all to little to late its goin to be hard for lots of folks for a very long time:mad:

stevebeilgard
very sorry to hear that, frank. letting your good employees go is very painful. and fly, the stimulus package isn't. what i mean is, it's a 9,000 unit pork spending bill that will hurt america big time, not help it. it was never designed to be a stimulus package. in 3 years, you'll see 20% interest, 15% or more unemployment, and out of controll inflation. just like when jimmy carter was in office. wait and see. i'll also predict $6.50 per gallon gas before the next election.
