HUNTINGMAN
Well I went and seen the doc today and got the results from my sleep test I done a couple of weeks ago.I found out that my sleep doctor is also a neorologist and that I dont need to drive 45 minutes to lexington to see another nerologist when she can do both things. What I found out is that I have a severe case of sleep apnea, she said that she is most certain that this is whats causing my cronic headachs. We went over the results and in one hours time I quit breathing 58 times wich in turn cut off the oxigen to my brain causing my brain to temporarily wake up throughout the night.I was sent home with a breathing machine to wear while sleeping that forces air through the windpipe keeping the air passage open so my oxegen dosent get cut off while i am asleep.I plan to give it a try tonight and see how it it works.Man I hope this gets rid of these headachs, I have just about had all I can handle of them. Shaun_300
My mom had the same condition, and they gave her a machine with a mask to wear at night too. It has helped her a lot! She said it takes a bit to get used to, but the results are worth it. Good luck to you bud.

QDMAworks4me
I feel your pain.... I went through the same thing not to long ago. I had not been sleeping well for about 4 years, up all night long and had no idea what was going on. It affected my hole life. I woke up in the morning more tired than I ever was when I went to bed. If anyone who does not have sleep apneia can imagine, take your worst night of rest that you have ever had and wake up like that every day. It was horrible. I finally talked to a doctor and they had me do a sleep study and found out that I stopped breathing hundreds of time during the night, and every time you stop breathing you wake up, your brain never got fully rested because it was awake saying "you are not breathing, WAKE UP" As far as the machine goes I know people who have tried it and hated it and refuse to wear it. I got some great advice that my Dr. gave to me about it, she said I realize that it may be hard to get used to but you have to understand that everynight yor body is not getting the right amount of oxygen so after a period of time your body is going to suffer. It is important that you get used to this so that it doesnt shorten your life over a period of time. Knowing this I decided that I was going to make sure that it worked for me. I use it know and Love it. I use a mask that just covers my nasal passage and does not cover my outh, it is nice. My machine is so quiet also. Make sure to use distilled water also so the minerals from tap water do not build up in th machine. Another thing that you may want to do is wrap your cpap tube with some sort of insulator. I have one that has a built in humidifier and because of the moisture that it creates I had what is called rainout occur. That is where you have a difference in temperature between the moisture in your tube and the temperature of your room and basicly caused moisture in the tube that when you breather in went in your nose, that was a pleasent feeling the first few times that happened in the middle of the night let me tell you You can buy one or I had my mom sew up a piece of fleece and put it on myself. If the Dr. took the time to set the machine up for you life should be getting better for you very soon. I would be happy to share anymore tips and tricks with you if you have any questions just let me know. Good luck!!

Hope ya get rid of the headaches! Luke......I am your father:rolleyes: That is the correct definition. Works for Asthmatics, COPDers, CHFers, and even those with Pneumonia. Wisconsin was a state with a pilot program for EMT-Basic Ambulances to carry it. We have seen good results with it in the field. I hope it takes care of your problem. HUNTINGMAN
Last night was my first night with this machine and it was ok for the first part of the night, the second wasnt so great.I found that when I stoped breathing with the mask on it got kinda scary, after doing this a couple of times I took the mask and gave it a sling across the table beside the bed.Think I will get the manual out tonight and adjust the pressure up so that it is focing more air through my airway thus keeping it open more, hope this works. QDMAworks4me
Did you have a sleep study in the hospital? You should have a sleep study where they monitor you and your oxygen levels so they can set the right pressure for you. You should not have to figure it out on your own. The pressure on mine is perfect and I have had no problems.
fly
That machien is called a CPAP.....continous positive airway pressure I believe....hav fun...shall we call you Darth Vader now, lol. Hope ya get rid of the headaches! Not sure from your discription HUNTINGMAN, but you could be using using CPAP or BiPAP (Bi-level positive airway pressure). Some people have an easier time with BiPAP since the pressures are different when you breath in compared to when you breath out. I know a guy that has sleep apnea and has a generator that runs it during the night when he's at deer camp. It takes some getting used to. If you are indeed using CPAP and having trouble you may want to discuss BiPAP with your doctor.
