redkneck
You know, aside from turkey season, which is enough to look forward to, i am so tired of eating plastic tomatoes. Made BLT's last night and all i could think of was how good they would have been with some decent tomatoes. Do you guys do much gardening? I dont have a green thumb but i love fresh tomatoes and them baby squash fried with onions, mmmmm....
layin on the smackdown
Im right there with ya Redneck....do more flower gardening around my house than anything...mainly because the people who use to live here had planted a trainload of perennials around the garden and yard, and they really look good...I would rather be planting tomatoes and hot peppers...but all you guys out there know how much that wouldn't go over... i wouldn't be here if she came home one day and i had uprooted all the flowers and replaced them with a jalopenos and tomatoes... Rem308
Yes sirree, I have to agree 100%. I already have put in my PTO request at work, can't wait for Spring Turkey Season...but aside from that, I'm also just looking forward to the pretty weather. We have Easter Lillies sprouting out through the flower beds and I am just sick of these temperatures down in the teens.
Adjam5
Oh we love tomatoes in this house . I usually plant 4 different types amongst other veggies and spices. Plum, cherry, grape and beefsteaks are the usual plantings. My youngest son Mike, would rather eat a tomato than candy. How weird is that? We call him Tomato boy:D. I have to shroud my garden here in plastic netting to keep the deer off of them. Then we have the groundhogs that decimated the tomatoes one summer. Ate EVERY plant to the ground:mad:. Arrows flying out the bedroom windows have helped with that problem;). My son Joe nailed 5 last summer and pinned them to the ground, same arrow, same broadhead. Goldtips and slick tricks Firearm discharge is illegal in our town, so the arrow is the go to weapon. But yes, I am looking forward to our garden again this summer and our home grown veggies...especially the cucumbers...mmmm:)

stevebeilgard
i planted my tomatos yesterday, as luck would have it. i have a greenhouse i'll get working on in early april, and plant my seedlings ( my tomato seedlings will be 2' tall) about may 1 to may 15. then, i have to watch them for freezing for a while. if need be, i'll turn on the heater... i too, love my tomatos. cukes, lettuce, beans, corn and a bunch more. hungry hunter
Redkneck, your right!! nothing better then fresh. I will put garden in this month, got chicken and cow flop on soil and will turn it under and let it set 2 weeks alot of nitrogen. my corn did good last year 30, 10 foot rows and then the first storm of the summer. Wind and hail knocked down every stalk of corn. was getting fresh tomatoes in november of last year. War department does the flowers and i do the garden. redkneck
Man, sounds like you got it going on. I dont plant that much. All our family's land is about ten miles down the road, and i dont even bring the tractor to my house to cut up my little patch. We'll have to post some pics when we get something worth seeing. Still too much frost risk to set out anything now, shy of potatoes and a few others.

Shaun_300
I don't do much gardening either, may do some tomato plants this year though. I did a few years back and just never bothered the past couple years to plant them.
