Whitetail Freak Hunter
I just started to mentor a kid who I found out loves archery. Brandon is gonna turn 16 in a few days. I was in one of my local pro shops, and found a very good used Martin Cheeta with a Black Gold sight and Rip Cord drop away rest for just $200 The owner told me that the kid who owns it, had it there on consignment had just bought it last year. He was selling it because he needed the money for something real bad. But after inspecting it, I found it to be a solid deal for a first bow for Brandon. Brandon's mom will have to get all the rest of the stuff for him. I don't know if many of you are mentoring someone into bowhunting and or archery, but the look on Brandon's face when I took him down to have him shoot this last week was just awesome. At that shop he was shooting a Mathews Genisis that had sights on it. As I told the owner I just want to see if this will be the ticket for Brandon. You see Brandon's dad is in prison, and won't be coming home ever. I can't go into details on what Brandon's been thru, but can tell you the look on his face when he shot 3 bullseyes was great. Brandon is also in the youth group at church, and this is also helping him along.

redkneck
Man, my hat's off to you! It's great that your're making a difference in his life. My brother is in the pen (again) and I know firsthand what the children are missing when daddy's not there. In his case his daughter gets more positive influence from me and my dad than my brother ever gave her.

layin on the smackdown
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hats off to you...that is soooo cool... There is so much more to a gesture like this than what it portrays....this could be the hope, self assurance, confidence, and so much more that this young man has been missing in life...and if its not, it is one more young man on our side of the fence;) that is just awesome...glad there are people like you in this world... Whitetail Freak Hunter
Do you mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters or some other org? Hats off to you....trust me i know the success that comes from mentoring! No, this is just a ministry that I felt led to take on with Brandon. He has no male figure in his life that will connect with him, because of what his dad did to him.
