Arkansas Boy
It isn't as fast, but it has all the other features as the regular truth 2. It's $379 and I'm thinking about getting one with my tax return Anyone shot one? Your opinion? Tom2008
I don't think your going to find anyone shooting one yet. Its really new and its a kids/womens bow. Only maxes at 50 lbs. You can't get different limbs for it either. Edited March 9, 2009 by Tom2008

You can't get different limbs for it either. no it is not. yes it maxes at 50lbs but the youth/women's would be the truth 2 "young gun" Bow is almost exactly the same but the ultra light is faster and a 1/4" longer and has a higher brace height. the idea is to get close to 300fps without the 60-70lb draw weight. and i figured half of you guys hang out at archery shops since we have so many pro staffers so i wondered if anyone had picked one up off the shelf and shot it. It came out in January and if I weren't up here at school I'd go to my pro shop and shoot one
Tom2008
no it is not. yes it maxes at 50lbs but the youth/women's would be the truth 2 "young gun" I'm sure a youth or woman could use it if they wanted to though.
Dakota
I'm sure a youth or woman could use it if they wanted to though. Let's try to be a little bit more helpful than that! Yes it would probably be a good youth bow but it can definitely do the job for an adult as well. I haven't shot it yet, however, I do know Bear Archery to be a very reputable brand with top-notch products. Personally, I shoot a Mathews, but I'm not going to tell you to buy a Mathews instead. Buy the bow that fits you best and that you are most comfortable with; that (the bow that you are most comfortable with), my friend, is the best bow on the market no matter the brand. So, I guess what I am getting at is this, try it out! That is going to be the only and best way for you to properly decide if that is the bow for you. Good luck and let us know how it shoots and what you decide. Man, I think I might have danced around that subject a bit! Dakota

I would also love to have the x-force SS but can't afford it either. I had decided to keep my bow until this one came out. I think i can manage it and if it feels the same as the truth 2, i'm gonna get it. I held the young gun and liked it. I am ready to shoot this new one, but don't have anywhere to shoot it up here. Spring break starts friday. Maybe i'll go to Archer's Advantage when I get back to Little Rock.

I am not new to the game. It wasn't like i was going to go and buy it in the box without shooting it. It appears noone has shot it, therefore no answers to my question. Dakota
i wasn't looking for the cookie cutter answer of "go try it out and see if you like it" Ouch! That completely flushes my advise down the drain! I have a buddy that shoots the Truth and really likes it, but no I have not shot it or the Truth 2 for that matter. What's more, he just recently purchased a Mathews Drenalin and is looking to sell his bow, not because it is a bad bow or he doesn't like it it's just he prefered a better name brand over a bow just as good. We do have a few Bear shooters here on the forums and I've shot a Fred Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve. You run into a lot of Mathews/Hoyt/Bowtech shooters on these forums with a few Bear/PSE/Parker and other brands mixed in as well. Wish we could offer you some valid advise, good luck! Dakota thanks My dad bowhunts in Michigan for 2 weeks out of the year and they used to play Fred Bear by the Nuge when they were in the trucks going to check a deer and when coming back into camp they had it blaring (letting the others know there was a kill). I fell in love with the song and starting reading about Fred when I was 17 or so. I am now 22. I have a 1968 copy of the archer's bible by fred bear and have read it. I have a small collection of Bear bows and don't really like to buy anything not associated with that company when it comes to bows. PSE is the only company that has pulled at my heart with the 26" X-Force SuperShort. That is one fast sweet looking bow. I currently shoot a Browning just because I ran across a good deal at a yard sale, but I am ready to buy my first brand new bow. All the ones I have (7 currently) are used. This will be my first bow purchase so I want to get opinions and then shoot it and make sure it's the one for me.
The_Kat
I have shot the bow and personally don't care for it. If I had to choose between it and a Parker Ultra Lite, I'd chose the parker. The Truth UL has a very blocky grip. Also it has lotsa shock in the hand grip too. The parker in my opinion is the best bow for the lower priced bow lines. Check em out. BTW, I know ya said ya didn't wanna hear it, but I do recommend ya shoot one first
Tom2008
Fine if you want my honest opinion about the bear bows I'll tell you. I haven't shot the the Ultra Light, but I have shot the Truth and Truth 2 and I didn't like either of them. Both seemed really hard to draw compared to other bows. I actually think the Truth shoots better than the Truth 2. The double stoppers I absolutley hate. They are not soft at all. I can really hear the string slap when one is shot. That is my honest opinion on those bows. Some guys love them and some guys hate them. I'm sure you will hear from both sides. Its not a horrible bow or anything, but there are certain things that I don't like about it. My positives on the bows are decent speed, nice thin grip, and not to heavy. redkneck
I've never shot the truth or truth2. I like my SQ32, and we have a member or two in here fond of their Instincts as well. If you cant afford the truth2, then that X-force will be hard to reach too. Parker and Martin have some nice bows that will get you under 60# and do quite well on putting down deer. fly
I've never shot the Ultra Light. So if that's all you're looking for read no more. I shoot an older (2003) Bear TRX. I'd like to get a new bow, but also can't afford a near 1,000.00 new bow which is what I'd have to spend to get something I'd like more than my TRX. So I'll just wait and save until I can get what I really want. If after shooting the Bear Ultra light you find you really like it, then get it. If not, think real hard about using the bow you have for another year and when the tax refund comes around next year you could get the bow you really want. I just checked out the specs and looks like it would be fine for deer. The bow would be too short for me with my 30 inch draw. Another thing to consider is other animals you may be hunting in the future. I'd want something with a little more bite for larger game. Arkansas Boy
Now the opinions are rolling. Thanks guys. This is what i was looking for. Kat and Redneck: I can def. go up to the 60#er, that is not one of the reasons I'm considering the ultra light. It's actually one of the major factors why I don't want it. I prefer to shoot at least 55lbs, however this bow seems to get plenty of speed and performace at 50lbs. Thanks guys
Arkansas Boy
Ok, let me ask you this. What bow would you suggest that runs $450 or under. I want a new bow, not a used one. I know that price range is limiting, but those are the resoursces I have.
The_Kat
Diamond Black Ice setup for 459$ is my choice.....my question to you is why not go to a mathews or hoyt dealer and get a great used bow for that price that is much better quality? I've never owned a new bow in my life and have got some great deals on some used bows. I paid less than 450$ on an 08 Katera XL.....I see lotsa deals on some 07-08s for less than 450$ for killer bows.

If I hadn't of bought my Outback that would have been the one I would be shooting right now. Made by Mathews too! Dakota

I know that doesn't matter when it comes to killing deer, but I want to have a cool looking bow. as for the ebay comments. Afraid of getting a lemon. I buy stuff on ebay all the time, but don't trust it for things of this nature. I have looked around on there a lot and found some pretty good deals. i really appreciate the input though. I will print this thread off and look at each bow at my local pro shop over spring break. Maybe I'll change my mind on some of these. I am trying to keep an open mind even though i have a picture in my mind of what i want.
