Tominator
Got some new land (for bunny hunting anyway) to check out tomorrow. Gonna hit "The Swamp" with my buddy ohiobucks. (he humors me with bunny and shed hunts, but I'm glad he does, gets us out of the house) I'm taking my camera, so hopefully we'll be able to post some pics. We were supposed to go on Thanksgiving morning, but ended up playing Texas Hold'em instead!

Tominator
Re: New Land Forgot the camera! Sorry. We did get 4 rabbits though. I connected first, then I pushed a fenceline and bumped one to Tom and he got that one. Then our buddy Steve got one, and Tom got the last bunny in one of the last bramble patches we kicked that day. I had a bead on the last one, but Tom went ahead and made hamburger of it at 15 yards. The best part of the trip may have been putting the tailgate down and having a cup of coffee with my two buds. Next week, I'll remember the camera, (it's going to be hard to forget because we're hunting my field), and we'll have the help of another bud's beagles too. Now, I would of missed a few (on purpose) for seed too_ [/ QUOTE ] Chris was just being a nice guy, he didn't mention the two I missed right off the bat.......they weren't in the brush though, the shots were just too wide open...... They did run really, really fast after I got them moving on though! 2nd excuse, I had just got done taking a sharp stick to the eye, still kinda hurts..... 3rd excuse, It was my buddies land, Tominator and Steve were new there, I didn't want to be the one to shoot all the rabbits, I wanted to give them a chance...... 4th excuse, Short brass? I thought I put in the high brass?!? 5th excuse, Man it was cold! 6 th excuse, Steve actually came up with this one for me - The coffee hadn't kicked in yet. I could go on and on....we did have a great time though!

Now, I would of missed a few (on purpose) for seed too_ [/ QUOTE ] Well, I wasn't going to say anything Mike because I wanted Tom's take on his two misses. Plus if I razz him too much, he'll bring up the lost knife story. I think the two misses startled Tom more than anything. Tom was up on the bank, Steve was down below. Steve jumped the first one, it ran back door right down the path, and Tom missed. The next one Tom actually kicked out, it also ran back door right down the path. That time I saw the shot pattern and Tom was behind it. After I got mine, Steve kicked out 3 at the same time, but all he could muster was "OOOH OOOH OH, HEY, THERE GO 3" Needless to say, he didn't shoot for some reason. Later Tom booted one more, way out in front of us, no shots on that one, and Tom booted one more after that, but it ran into a large wood pile. So we actually saw 11 rabbits that day, but only got shots on 6. Lots-O-Fun though.

Keeps the bunnies around for next year, also helps Winchester - they need to make more shells. Plus, I don't want to show off in front of Chris and Steve, that just isn't right...... [/ QUOTE ] Yep, that's my buddy. Great guy. Watches two bunnies run down a completely clear, straight, 8 foot wide path, intentionally shoots behind them, just so Steve and I can come back later and shoot them another day. Great guy.
