mike13candace
The area I archery hunt in San Saba Texas has very few trees to hang a stand. Ground hunting is difficult. Cedar trees offer ground blind cover. Only problem is trying not to be seen...Anyone have any luck using a decoy to draw attention away from me. Tim Andrus
Never tried using a decoy that way Mike. Would this help... I have a large piece of camo burlap that I use for these conditions ..... And have set it up so I can shoot thru a small window Ive cut out . I usually hang it using those screw in cup holders screws that you use in your kitchen cupboard or use zip ties After I get it hung I get the hole set so I can see /shoot thru it kneeling. And i make a few other slots or holes for keeping watch. hope this helps Did you see in the other thread I told you Ill be in Hartford on march 21 and 22nd at Cabelas stop by and say hello
hammerforged
Maybe something like this would help, don't know much about them but they look like they would do the trick in most ground hunting situations. Can you see the blind in the middle of the picture?
RangerClay
Have you tried a pop-up blind? They are fairly inexpensive and most importantly, mobile.

Can you see the blind in the middle of the picture? Is that the Shadow Shield ? Great product for sure. Those mirrors work wonders for any kind of surrounding. You could be in the middle of a barren desert with a pink shirt on, and still blend in. Take a peek
mike13candace
Thanks for the reply. I had two very mature bucks come over a slight hill and lock eyes on to me.. Both had nice racks. I will see you at Cabellas
mike13candace
I have used a popup blind... deer seem very cautious aproaching the noise from wind blowing the material...

Rhino
Is that the Shadow Shield ? Great product for sure. Those mirrors work wonders for any kind of surrounding. You could be in the middle of a barren desert with a pink shirt on, and still blend in. Take a peek I'm not sure what you call this thing but it's a full, 4 sided, & covered hunting blind you get inside of. Not what's shown in the youtube video. I've been getting a lot of emails about it but not one has the name of it yet. Here's some more pictures of it. I don't think a road hunter would last long in this thing though. Would sure work fine in a lot of situations. The only problem I see with it down here is keeping it clean, especially from tree sap. Looks like it's pretty small to maneuver a weapon around in with risking hitting the roof or sides too. ruttinbuc
Those crazy Texans think of everything. Blinds are ok, but I get a little claustrophobic not being able to see 360 degrees. I know there are blinds that allow that, but to me there is nothing like cutting out a spot and just playing the wind in ambush. Fence/hedge rows are great for this. Another perfect spot is in the branches of a dead fall. They don't have to be huge. Just big enough to break up your outline. As for distraction a single strip of white ribbon 3 foot off the ground blowing in the wind will do the trick. A good size, light colored feather tied to a string and twirling in the wind at nose level will distract them as well. There is no better distraction than a decoy, however.
