nyencoreshooter
After reading about the potential accuracy with the encore, I took my muzzleloader barrell off, purchased a .308 win. barrel. Had the trigger worked, the Mike Belm pin installed, and checked the forend ears for clearance ( not rubbing the hinge pin ), with 180 grs. Federals with Nosler Partition tips, I was getting 1.5'' @ 100 yds. So yes I am a Encore fan now. The Encore can shoot like a bolt action rifle. This was accomplished with very litte testing with different bullets. I can`t wait for the warmer weather to test handloads.
Heavy Metal
Besides the Marlin lever action I have on Layaway, the Encore is the only other rifle I have always wanted. NEXT YEAR I'M GETTIN' ONE! I'll start with the MZL, then eventually purchase some deer hunting rifle barrels.....44 rem mag, 454 Casull, 500 SW, etc. How did you shoot that day (bench, vice)? I've always heard the Encore is a "tack" driver. 1.5" at only 100 yards isn't exactly tack driving. It's good though!
OUTSIDER
1.5" groups??? Well, I will not be getting one of those...was gonna get a 7mm...thats not a good group for what I want. Will stick with a remington 700. Thanks for the report.

Was it mostly skinny windage-wise, but scattered vertically. I have heard that hinge style single shot rifles can produce vertical laddering with each successive shot. Slider
I have always wondered how well they shot? Also how good of a trigger do they have?
Doc
I have always wondered how well they shot? Also how good of a trigger do they have? What I was told from our local gun shop was that most purchasers of Encore centerfire rifles immediately have a trigger job done. Apparently they come from the factory with a bit of excessive trigger pull. In fact he had a term for it that was something like "lawyer trigger" or something like that, indicating that the heavy trigger pull was on purpose for some kind of legal protections. Idaho_ Elk_ Huntr
Mine had a 6.5 lb trigger when I purchased it. I ordered the 3 lb spring kit with the 50lb hammer spring and the springs to fit the barrel locks. I have a smooth as glass trigger that breaks at 2.75 lbs and equals or exceeds anything I have on a bolt action. As far as accurcy if it will only group 1.5 inches I would send it back and they will shoot it for you and let you know if it is the barrel. my 300 will shoot .25 inch groups at 100 yards
doubleA
Nice group you have there, it's measures roughly .440" or just under a 1/2 inch. Here's a screen shot of a program I use for measuring targets.
