PotashRLS
Was told by someone that on the news last night the Sportsmen's Warehouse in Green Bay is closing. Other ones too I guess. I was in there a couple weeks ago and their ammo/reloading/shooting section had many bare spots. They told me they were unable to get stuff due to high demand Now I know why. Too bad because competition controls our prices. Now Gander Mountain will be able to charge more.

craig mack
They had a store by me. They did very little advertising in the area and ended up closing after only 8 months. I liked the store way better than Gander.
Dakota
Wow! I worked at the Sioux Falls store from August-December last year and am not surprised one bit that they are closing. I got layed off along with a bunch of other people and even our gun manager. The SF store is the largest one in the chain and now it's one of the ones they are closing. Wow, what a surprise! Heavy Metal
Boy that's a bummer. The one in Lafayette is on the list. That store is barely two years old. Brand new building and everything. It's impressive. I've bought some binoculars and some gun cleaning stuff there before. Only about 30 minutes from me. I just rarely go to Lafayette. ruttinbuc
They had a big booth at the NWTF convention. They were raffling off some prizes and handing out literature. Hey, maybe somebody will win a store. Maybe the decal I picked up will be a collectors item.......
wtnhunt
Heard last night on the news that they are closing the Southhaven Mississippi store. That link shows the Memphis store being closed too, don't guess I realized there was a store in Memphis.
Dakota
It only seems to make sense, one of the few retail outlets of any kind that has NO INTERNET SALES..........Welcome to 1990. Technically (boy, I can't believe I used to be an English Major ...oh wait...I think that is the right spelling...never mind ) SW is just that, a warehouse. It can't sell online because it is just supply and demand and you would get the same prices as you would ordering directly from the individual companies. SW is not a show store like Gander Mtn, Bass Pro and Cabela's. Dakota
JJL
Here's what I found recently: I wanted to get one of the Uncle Mike's shoulder holsters for my 460 XVR 10 1/2" bbl. Cabelas...........$44.00 delivered to my door. SWH...............$41.00 100 mile drive to get it. Ebay................$22.50 delivered to my door. Where do you think I made my purchase? Overhead is going to kill alot of business in the next couple of years. Get ready for some bargains when they close their doors.
The_Kat
Ya I hate to see anyone close their doors, but it is somewhat of a personal stab when its an outdoor store. I hope things turnaround soon!
ruttinbuc
It disappoints me to see all the local shops go under. We had 5 go out in the last 2 years. This is what really hurts this economy. Big money cut the middle class off at the knees.
JJL
Big Money Loves the Middle Class................Big Government Doesn't. The real cause of this current recession lies in the outcome of the '06 Congressional Elections. Wait until they start raising interest rates to pay off their spending programs and it'll be 1980 all over again..........only worse. Mom and Pop shops everywhere will be closing.
