stevebeilgard
the license application for all of wyoming ends march 15. the draw is early july. about mid july, the web site posts about 30,000 left over licenses for sale first come first served. so, get on the game & fish web site about mid july, and you'll find all the licenses you need. you can buy them online. pm sent
pointing_dogs_rule
North Dakota has over the counter out-of state licenses. Can be bought at the courthouse (I know archery for sure... done that before). South Dakota... I have done this before and I sent to the state capitol for an archery tag. I do not believe that there is a deadline in South Dakota. If you want to buy a tag in South Dakota and are out-of-state the only place to buy them was in Pierre at the state capitol (this was 5-6 years ago). Pierre is only an short 30 -40 miles north of the interstate and only has about 6,000 people so it is very easy to find the capitol. good luck to all the dog
Dakota
South Dakota goat tags are only over-the-counter in the state capitol I believe. Otherwise, you can apply for them at any time online with paper application. Archery antelope tags are unlimited for both resident and nonresident. Though antelope archery tags are valid statewide for all counties with huntable populations, I'd recommend either hunting the northwest corner or Ft. Pierre National Grassland just west and south of Ft. Pierre (the town across the Missouri from Pierre). The northwest corner is the best place to hunt in my opinion due to being extremely close to the excellent WY/MT populations. Last year during the rifle season I had my buck and doe at fifty yards within 20 minutes of shooting light on opening morning and that was on public land. All I had done was pattern a group of 8 goats (two bucks and six does) that were hanging around one of the few watering holes in the region the afternoon before. I set up along the fenceline that divided the BLM (Burea of Land Management) land from the Walk-in Area land (private land leased out to the state for public use). Shooting light was 6:25am and I heard a rifle shot at 6:26 from public land across the road; my uncle shot a small doe that was following him at 30 yards! Fifteen to twenty minutes later one of the bucks I had spotted the previous afternoon came along a trail following his two does to the watering hole. I was directly inbetween them and dumped the buck and the doe on his right. Seven shots later the last doe was miles out there and completely unharmed (in South Dakota there are 3-tag licenses, one any antelope and two doe/kid antelope)! :D:D Antelope hunting is certainly something everyone should be able to experience! Good luck! Dakota BTW, here are some pics from this past fall's hunt. Edited March 12, 2009 by Dakota
