GWSmith
...Shoot what you thought was a "BigFoot" if you were out during hunting season and one just stepped out in front of you? Would it depend on what weapon you had with you? If you decided to kill one...would you take any part of the animal back to civilization with you to prove what you had done? What would you do with the publicity, which would undoubtably happen, of being the first person to bring in absolute proof of thier existence? bfletch7441
I don't think I could shoot it unless I felt threatened. I would be too worried about it being a person that was pulling a joke on me. Ben

stevebeilgard
i'm with the others. if it turned out to be a human, i'm going to jail. if it were real, i just killed an endangered species, and i'm going to jail. of course, maybe if i'm in jail i could see more of joe or randy..lol
texastrophies
I would shoot it, without a doubt, with a camera. Like the others said, don't think I would kill it, unless it became a threat.
ruttinbuc
I shoot it and prove to the world it does exist. How much trouble could you get into for shooting something that isn't listed as a species. On another thought maybe I could coax it to give up the gig and take it on a world tour. oldksnarc
I wouldn't kill it - unless to protect myself. Otherwise, that would be killing just for the sake of killing. Much like the albino deer on another thread. Even if I saw the albino deer and it was season and I had a tag I wouldn't shoot it. And, like others said - what if it were human. Had a friend dress in a ghillie suit during last deer season and trip one of our trail cameras. Did it at 11 at night so we weren't hunting. Adjam5
Interesting question... When I am usually in the woods hunting, I am carrying not only a weapon, but a video camera and digital still cam also. I would take its pics and become the new guy getting his 15mins of fame on the news. I know you say "Baa" to get a deer to stop. What do you say to Bigfoot. Hey! I got your stimulus check right here!...then boom! I don't think I would shoot it. In NY, albino and piebald deer are not protected species when in season, and that is a recessive gene. So the herd benefits from its harvest. Not to mention the unique mount.
redkneck
First of all, some sort of season needs to get underway so we can discuss things other than bigfoot, and "innies & outies, righties and lefties" Secondly, legend has it, it is a legend mind you, i never pulled hospital records to prove it, though it has been told by many around here, that about 25 years ago there was a lady just south of here that loved to hunt and was rather large (that much i think is true b/c i used to hunt that area and most knew of her). But.... heheee.....they say that one morning she was wearing one of those big brown furry coats and was bent over in a log road looking at some tracks. A hunter was slipping down the road and mistook her for a bear and shot her in the butt with 00 buckshot. So, i think i'd have to feel pretty threatened to shoot. Stay tuned for more redneck legends...
buckee
Would you/could you, Shoot what you thought was a "BigFoot" if you were out during hunting season and one just stepped out in front of you? Would it depend on what weapon you had with you? Yes, I would and could morally speaking. If you decided to kill one...would you take any part of the animal back to civilization with you to prove what you had done? Yes, definitely. I wouldn't be ashamed. What would you do with the publicity, which would undoubtably happen, of being the first person to bring in absolute proof of thier existence? I would be loved by some, and hated by many, but at least the myth, would no longer be a myth. That's my answer and I'm stickin to it .... until I see one :D

I would do it in a heart beat....people want physical evidence, and what better proof than having one dead, strapped to the 4 wheeler still warm... If it was the last one on earth, oh well, it was doomed anyway...if there was a population of them, then one missing would not affect the overall population... Mystery Solved... Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
This is a tough one. Although I wouldn't want all the publicity that would come with it, I probably would shoot it. If indeed this creature, or creatures do exist, the world would want to know and should know about them.

pendog
Yep and yep....and a maybe?? Would have to be in danger for me to shoot it.......like if it looked at me.....then the 7mm would be doin some talkin.
doubleA
What a silly question, while we're at it let's throw in a UFO with space aliens or white unicorn with a mane of gold. What if..........what if................................:D:D
pendog
I would deff. shoot an alien (from outerspace that is) Probably not someone in a suit if you see one of these critters. Do you think a well placed shot with the 7mm could bring down the UFO or do you think it would ricochet off it and just make them mad? Don't want to be on Springer talking about probing!!!!! Jorden
I would have no problem shooting it if it was an actually animal...I would have to take my time and make sure it wasnt someone playing a joke
wtnhunt
Don't know Gary, my luck if I shot a bigfoot it would end up being some moron in a really good costume.:o
Dawg
Well.......that's a tough question Gary. First off I would be in awe of just seeing the thing. For me to shoot it I would consider three things. 1. Is it real or a retard in a monkey suit? Where I hunt it probably would be real. 2. Am I in danger? 3. Is it between me and my truck. As far as telling people about it.......I wouldn't. Don't want no folks snooping around my deer woods looking for it's mate and I wouldn't want to go through all of the television shows, phone calls, public appearances and all the other hoopla that would come with it. GWSmith
Interesting responses... I watched a "Monster Quest" show a few nights ago on I believe it was the History Channel. In an area of the Adirondack Park (Whitehall) there is a long history of sightings with many documented by multiple people at the same time. There was an individual(Paul Bartholomew) who through his lobbying was instrumental in having legislation enacted protecting BigFoot. From what I remember the wording was something like: "...to protect undiscovered species..."..blah blah blah...Well you get the picture. IMHO...Shooting BigFoot would be a question of "Am I shooting some idiot in a Suit"? Heres some of the Articles about the area: http://www.rfthomas.clara.net/news/realornot.html http://www.bigfootencounters.com/articles/bartholomew08.htm

Heavy Metal
Heck yeah I'd kill it...and bring back the mount/cape.
camoman1
Well heres two situations that come to my mind... 1. Once I am certain it is not a human, I shoot it. And show the appropriate people. This creates a media and scientific frenzy around me and the area where not only I hunt, but many others do to. Causing possibly more trouble than its worth. 2. I shoot it and sell it to the smithsonian or something like that for a few million. Retire early, buy new property to hunt elsewhere and live happily ever after....:D
