horntaggger
Well I am part of the mess going on today about 5 weeks ago I was laid off. It has been awhile since I have been on here, hope all is well Since early 2005 I was working for Bass Pro Shops which I worked on 30 stores was promoted twice and finally ended up as Imagery Specialist which I was acutally doing two jobs. Buying Taxidermy and Artifacts for each new store. Research Fur, Fin, Feather and Historyof that state and region for each new store to determine the theming. Collecting historical photos of hunting and fishing to celeberate the local heritage for each new store. Working with Game and Fish Departments throughout the country to help theme and get the correct conservation message out to the public. Work with Conservation Groups throughout in each region of that state to help get the correct conservation message and correct themeing of each new store. Beleive it or not Working the the Game and Fish Departments and Conservation groups never existed before to help with the themeing and collecting historical photos till I started doing it. Even helped out other departments, like finding artistist in Texas for prints for Mercandising, helped with come up with a hunting calendar which they never had before and still not smart enough to put it in the hunting department to sell. But thats life, have to figure out what to do with myself. And theirs nothing to hunt expect coyotes, guess I get my manangement hat on for my hunting land. Today I here Sportsman's Warehouse is closing stores.

Slash
Sad how poor government decisions screw over all the hard working Americans who deserve better than what they get! I wish you luck in your search for more work as well as for the good of the country.

ruttinbuc
I feel your pain. I guess we all have to reinvent ourselves at some point. Just a matter of what there is to make it worthwhile without falling in the same pits all over again. Take it one day at at a time and hope things open up for whatever you decide to do. horntagger
Thank you all and buckee it's been along time had to re-register - lol Now I am not as old as dirt just rocks. It's been long time since I did photo shoot for Realtree at the 2002 AMO show and it's been a wild ride and wild road. Two weeks have gone by since I have had two interviews. Only the deer gods can tell me the outcome at this time. First interview was with the Missouri Department of Conservation as a Nature Center Manager, last little over hour and had 11 references from Game and Fish Department head across the country. Second interview was with a Wildlife Habitat Products Company went on for two hours. Both interview went extremely well. But it is amazing on how when you are working how you don't have enought time off and when your not their nothing to do. LOL But I will say I have got to do some neat things. Bear Denning with the Arkansas Game and Fish Mule Deer Capture with California Game and Fish Pheasant Hunt in Central Illinois Coyote/Cougar hunt in Arizonia Peacock Bass Fish in Miami Florida Road around with the Wolf and Leopard Biologist for Arizona Turkey Hunt in Alabama Turkey Hunt in Kansas Turkey/Deer/Bear hunt in Arkansas Toured with game and fish Department in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Kansas, Arizona, California, Missouri, Iowa, Louisana, Massachusetts and Georgia

HCO Team
I'm sorry to hear about your situation and the others that are being impacted like this. It is scary times. I hope everything works out for you. The services we offer ie; outfitting, taxidermy, video, hunting supplies is labeled as "Luxury". And in a sense it is. However, hunting is a means of survival too, to us anyway. We manage our herd and one of the ways we do it is harvesting the Does. We eat every bit of meat, nothing goes to waste. Basically raising our own meat with very little output! Then when one of the big guys mosey by, that's just icing on the cake... As society goes though, we've gotten wasteful, which plays a part in todays economy. I worked in a large well known chain for quite a few years. I was in charge of Human Resources, Payroll, Cash Auditing, the BATF Advisor, Hiring, Training, Sales, Support Staff and played my most favorite role, the "Peon". LOL The incredible waste I witnessed in corp America literally made me ill, it is a horrible shame. I truly believe bringing back the Mom and Pop shops, concentrating on keeping what is left of the American dollar and keeping it here, at home, will be a saving grace. Education as well. Open doors and opportunities to our youth with support and backing. Get them in the outdoors. This isn't only about a bad economy, this is about our rights as well. Things are going to H*ll in a handbasket and we need to be proactive. Lisa Edited March 12, 2009 by HCO Team
