camoman1
Was shore fishing on Lake Michigan the other day. Lots of goldeneyes, bills and mergansers stay the winter on the lake. Guy I was fishing with had a drake Goldeneye grab his gold shiner that was set at the bottom!! I netted it for him, and was expecting a very frantic duck to be in the net! To my surprise, he just kinda sat there while i took the hook out of his bill. I picked him up and held him over the railing and he took off like nothing was wrong. Wanted to get a picture, but did not want to stress him out any more. **not sure if this belongs here or in the fishing forum:D
Guest TennesseeTurkey
WOW thats cool! Didnt Bill Dance do this once and the bird took off flying and he reeled him in, in the air?
redkneck
Never caught a bird, though i did have a gator hit a topwater plug once and had to deal with that. A neighbor was once trapping beavers in his pond, and somehow a crane got his leg in the trap. He was trying to free the animal and the bird speared him all the way through his hand. Massive infection followed, but finally he was ok weeks later. Just got to be careful around those type birds.
