buckee
I wish I had the camera with me 2 weeks ago. My dog Polly went with me shed hunting, and we found a shed together. I let her smell it, and she picked it up, and started carrying it around. I asked her to give it to me, but she wouldn't. I laughed and said, "OK, you carry it then". SHE DID !! She carried that antler more than 400 yrds through a field, and through some thick bush to the truck. She was soooo proud, and I kept telling her what a good girl she was, all the way out to the truck. :D Well, a few days later, I found the match to that shed, more than 600 yards across the field from the other. She wasn't with me that day, but when I came home and showed her, she wanted it bad. I think she recognised the smell. She pranced all over the house with that thing for about 1/2 hour, before giving it back to me. I think she might be a shed hunter some day ..LOL She's a smart little dog, that's for sure. Here's some pics and a short video clip...enjoy (it's my first attempt at video editing)

redkneck
I just gave my lab pup one of those pig ears you get in the store, and she was prancing around like that, proud as she could be.
GWSmith
Cute Dog Steve...Geuss you'll have to be taking her out in the field more often:cool: I just gave my lab pup one of those pig ears you get in the store, and she was prancing around like that, proud as she could be. I used to have a Beagle like that...except after awhile he would try to bury them...IN THE CARPET:eek:
wtnhunt
That is cool Steve. May have to take our dog on some walks this spring to see if she can help find some sheds, I have never found any here despite quite a bit of looking. Maybe I'll borrow the neighbor's dog to try and find some sheds. Same here. Never found a shed here. A couple of skulls but no sheds! Canuck2
Now THAT is the kind of dog to have. You've got a good one, Steve. To my chagrine, my son and his wife were here this weekend with their yellow lab. It found a fresh shed IN MY YARD that both of my dogs either missed or didn't care about. Oh well, it was only a spike:o
