I let matt know he's up...problem is, I don't think he's up yet.:D Last I heard he was at a sports bar watching the tourney so once he decides to get out of bed I'm sure he'll make his pick, even though I could probably predict who he's gonna take at 99.9% accuracy and just make it for him now.

I guess that 0.1% INaccuracy rate came thru this morning. Eric didn't see the Chris Davis pick...:D

Hate to bring this up, but the only way Muggsy will have a 14th pick is if he drops Harden all together.

Here's a simple way to remember:

If you make a trade for a keeper, they automatically go into your keeper list. Every keeper counts against your draft picks(they go to the bottom of the draft order). So in Muggsy's case when he traded for Harden, Harden took up a spot in his draft. His keepers took up spots 15 thru 21. Unless, he trades Harden, Felix Hernandez(from BB11) will take up the 14th slot.

Now if he chooses to drop Harden, his 14th slot will open back up and be available to trade to BB11.

Everyone follow so far??

OK, at the end of the draft, if Muggsy has traded away more picks than he needs to complete his team, he will receive supplemental picks. Supplemental picks are made after the final regular draft pick(210) and they will still have keeper rights.

Muggsy must have a bad memory because this is what happened to him and texastrophies last year.

Kev, I have a 14th...it's the 15th pick that Harden is taking away.

And my memory is fine, I made trades during the winter meetings last year and I was completely aware those trades were replacing some of my keeper picks at that time. This year, I made the trade during the draft, and didn't think how that would impact the 15th I traded to John...but I do have a 14th so give that to John. I doubt he'd take issue with increasing the pick he traded for and I really don't care.

21- Martin takes away

20- Phillips takes away

19- Verlander takes away

18- Haren takes away

17- Chris Young takes away

16- Soria takes away

15- Harden takes away

14- goes to John.

Like I mentioned in the PM....Felix HAS to go somewhere. Felix will go in your next available keeper slot which happens to be your 14th. Now if you want, you can give John you're 14th and let Felix take up the 13th spot???

He shouldn't take away a draft pick, especially a keeper. If I'm going to have to use a supplemental pick to fill my roster, why shouldn't I be able to use my 13th pick and then just not make a supplemental. I gave up a lot already to get him, as I did with Harden.

If you want to encourage trades, you should take that into consideration. I'm fine with losing a late round pick for Harden...since he's a keeper, but I shouldn't lose that early of a spot for trading for a non keeper, and Felix has no keeper rights.

Would have never moved for a guy I'm gonna lose if it takes away my 6th and 13th.

That's essentially saying, if someone chooses to trade two picks for one guy, they also lose a spot for that guy...so it's taking three picks away. We need to fix that, otherwise no one is gonna trade.

Get it?

Again, you're forgetting that John gets a keeper pick just by letting Felix go. It's not my fault that you overpaid for a player.:D:D

What I mean, is that you shouldn't have had to offer the late round keeper pick. And that deal would've been acceptable because basically he's getting the same thing.

John gets a 6th round pick and a 15th(freed up by letting Felix go)

and

Muggs gets Felix Hernadez and loses a 14th round pick.

Not to make it more complicated or anything, but I'm pretty sure that John won't need another pick?? I'm too tired to look that deep into it right now.

Knowing all this, I would have structured the deal differently. As I said via PM, trades made after the winter meetings we have should be treated differently...actually, kinda thought that was the point of having the winter meetings.

Those picks should be treated differnently if for no other to encourage trades and keep the league interesting. I'll tell you right now, if draft day trades only take away peoples picks, not to sure how many people will be interested in dealing.

If you trade for a guy with keeper rights, he should take away a keeper pick- but if he's in his last year, he should just be added to your roster and then you wouldn't need a supplemental pick if you gave up picks to get him. That's the most accurate way to handle it.

The reason for winter meetings is to trade keepers that you don't plan on keeping.

If you trade for a guy with keeper rights, he should take away a keeper pick- but if he's in his last year, he should just be added to your roster and then you wouldn't need a supplemental pick if you gave up picks to get him. That's the most accurate way to handle it.

Again, I've thought this over and thought this over. A keeper is a keeper. If he's in his last year and on your roster, he takes up a draft spot. If you trade him to someone, they then take up a roster spot on their team.

I hope Bruce hits 70 HR's this year just for you.:D

LMAO.:D:D

It would take that for him to break the top 10 OF's. I'm fairly sure that if Matt stays healthy, he'll be a top 10 catcher for the next three years.:D:D

Now that I say that, expect a career ending injury fairly soon.:D

I sent a text to Eric letting him know he's up to pick. Not sure where he's at...although he could be sitting in front of his computer clamming up because he doesn't know who to take.

3 words, buddy. Hong...Chih...Kuo. Do it.:D

Wow....Fornadel posting on realtree...this is new...anyway, the Wilson pick is almost as bad as Kuo. I was all over Broxton until Kyle nabbed him. Oh well, I still got a catche with upside...didn't I?:D

Kuo is an excellent K, ERA and WHIP guy. He'll throw more innings than a closer, but won't get the big save.

I wasn't planning on taking Kershaw but he was my highest young pitcher on my draft sheet. I just don't like taking old guys with a keeper pick.:D
