Leo
Most common around here are the black buzzards. I was lucky enough to get a photo of this guy the other day. They are more spooky than buzzards.

Doe-ee
Great picture. I've seen plenty of them flying around, but only once on the ground. Actually it was walking down the road. We stopped right beside it and I rolled down the window....boy did that bird ever stink!!

ruttinbuc
I had a bunch of them picking on a deer carcass on the way home from a turkey scouting trip. They hung out just long enough for me to fumble the camera out of my bag. I did manage to get one who flew up into a nearby tree through the tinted glass of the windshield. Very ugly critters for sure.
Adjam5
We have a load of them here in the Hudson valley. They are very graceful fliers and ride the thermals often. Huge wingspans on them. They are part of the Lee species of critters. Ugly, homelee and ghastly:D.

Leo
I suppose it's good time to add. This species has a unique defense mechanism. Projectile vomiting! Perhaps they practice by looking in the mirror...

redkneck
I'll tell you guys, if you've never smelled buzzard vomit, you never smelled stink. That is THE most horrible, putrid smell ever. The second it hits your nose, its instantly that you want to vommit yourself. I've never smelled worse, and I've been sprayed by a skunk in the face, and it couldnt hold a distant second.
