fly
Ok, more letters to representatives going out. Things are so twisted here in IL. I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. Check out the: "DNR budget includes new fees" story: http://www.prairiestateoutdoors.com/index.php?/pso/article/dnr_budget_includes_new_fees/

HOYTnMUZZYboy
It's only a few extra dollars I will glady pay as long as improvements are made. We can't expect to keep the hunting areas and parks we have unless we give a little as sportsman as well, even tho I know it seems as if we give enough already. I actually think this is a postive step forward for the Illinois sportsman and women. I just hope with the few extra dollars there gonna be getting that they put a few more conservation police on patrol. All of this is my own oppinon and do not want to start a battle with anyone on here. Just my two cents!
Adjam5
While I think it is OK to improve your states DNR, how come they always come to sportsmen for the money to fund Gov't bureaucracies. Don't we already pay the Pittman-Robertson taxes on ALL of our sporting goods? How about they manage it a little better. It is just another additional tax. Does Illinois have Lifetime Licenses for hunting and fishing that can make you exempt from all future tag increases? Mach1
We do have a lifetime license that can be bought. It is 30 times the current fee. I had planned on buying one in the past but never did. Wish I would've now, but I'll probably still try to buy one in the next few years.
stevebeilgard
expect many years of the same. raise taxes so they can spend more.
fly
I too have thought about buying a lifetime license. I figure it better be done quick because it will not be long before lifetime prices go up as well. If paying a little more for a license meant keeping Sate Parks open and keeping IDNR jobs I'd be ok with that. However, with the parking fee, license increase, permit increase, not to mention higher rates for license plate stickers, drivers license, income taxes, etc... my cost to hunt will exceeded 100% my previous year. This is too much too fast. Will the increases keep me out of the woods... no. However, it will likely keep some of the lower income people out and they are the ones that really need to be there. Does anyone really think the "extra" money will be used wisely? Will it all be given to the ILDNR to make improvements? I've been following development of a new Sate managed bow hunting area near my house. Small, only 90 wooded acres. Five thousand dollars was allocated for a small parking lot. I saw the parking lot last week. One truck load of rock poured on the ground (maybe five hundred dollars worth, not five thousand). Maybe they plan on doing more later, but I doubt it. I'll get a picture and you all let me know if you think it would take 5 grand.
