South MS Bird

Well I let my 870 bark yesterday afternoon on a very memorable bird. It was an unreal hunt. Long story short he wound up behind me at about 70 yards and 2 hours of working him. Then he got into a fight with 7 jakes it was a sight to see. I cut at them and they all came running in to see who could get to the hen first. I shot him at 35 yds.

He has a 9' beard and no spurs not a sign of one on either leg. That is the second one I've killed like that.

He wont live up to our team name (Spur collectors) but he is right up there on memorable hunts.

Congrats on the bird.

One of the reasons that I love being out in the spring chasing gobblers is the things you get to witness that others will never see. Just like you, watching the jakes gang up on a long beard is one of the wildest things you are going to see, been there and done that.:)
