Swamphunter
Obama and a slip of the tongue that would have had been all over the media had a republican said it.... I have yet to see this on the news! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKlYT2bseII&feature=related

m gardner
He needs to stick to the teleprompter and not talk from his heart. It's not pretty in there. Mark
snapper
It was on our local new station (cbs). I personally don't think there is too much in it...he said it like a joke. I really don't think it was a slam on special needs/olympics.
stevebeilgard
i did take it as a slam to special needs folks, and a degrading statement. but, being a dem, he'll get a pass on it.
Adjam5
It was said in the context of, that he did so bad bowling it what like he was....special or disabled. While it may be a joke to call someone named Ed, special when they do something stupid. It most certainly should not come from a person who should be commanding respect from the free world. Should people who have special needs be used a joke punchlines? I think not. That is beyond their control. But what comes out of BHO's mouth is. If Bush said it there would be protests all over. This guy gets away with everything. They always put a spin on it. Edited March 21, 2009 by Adjam5 spelling
nativetexan
Sarah Palin didn't seem to think that it was too funny. I read that he made an apology to the president of the Special Olympics privately. Not that it does any good for the rest of the people he insulted. wtnhunt
Pretty clear he slipped and said what he was thinking, damage control can try to spin it however they want. What Obama said was very clearly wrong even as a punchline for a joke that was in very poor taste. He should be apologizing to all those who are disabled and all those he insulted, however then he would have to admit he was wrong.
Swamphunter
Yeah, I am no Obama fan.. but it is just a slip of the tongue... he is a human being very much like us, and tok be honest, I do like the fact that he is so down to earth. John Kerry would have never been like that. I just think he should be sorry, say he is sorry and move on. I also know GW would have been crucified by that idiot Keith Olbermann for saying that. snapper
How many of us hear co-worker or friends joking with each other and calling them... "retard", "slow", "ride the short bus", etc.. we can't take offense to every word we hear. My only gripe on the topic is...if someone would make a joke towards the KKK or the "N" word...Obama would be up in arms.

m gardner
I think it shows how government really feels right now. Here the programs for seniors, foster kids and the homeless have been cut drastically. These groups can't fight back and no one stood up for them. I think he was testing the waters a bit to see what they can get away with. Just like with AIG thing. In military terms "we are being probed" the real assault will come when they figure us out. These are not stupid people. Mark
