Alisha
In the past 8 months I have been pretty stressed out from getting our new house, planning our wedding, being apart from my honey , moving to Canada in a couple months, etc.! I had been getting extremely bad jaw pain, daily headaches, and at times my teeth felt like they were LOOSE. I went to the dentist a couple months back and he told me it looked like I had been grinding my teeth. LOVELY. The pain stopped for a while, but in the past two months it has returned and I have recently noticed that I was unconsciously clenching my teeth during the day! I finally went to Walmart the other day and bought a mouth guard made specifically for night time Bruxism. I wore it for the first time last night, and while it wasn't the most comfy, or attractive thing to wear, it worked. I could already see where I had bit down extremely hard on it in my sleep. My question is... do any of you have this problem and if so, do you wear a mouth guard at night to prevent it? If you do, what type do you wear? I know you can get one made at your dentist, but mine never proposed that suggestion.... and I've also heard they are quite pricey. I have started exercising again, not only with hopes to lose some weight, but to relieve some stress as well..... perhaps some yoga or meditation is in store next. LOL. Alisha
maybe this will help.. http://christianity.about.com/od/whatdoesthebiblesay/qt/reasonnot2worry.htm Thanks. That eased my mind a bit! HE has certainly helped me through a lot of tough times, as I know HE will for the rest of my years. Without Him I would be far worse than I am now. My dentist made me one. Only cost $40 out of pocket as I recall. They make a very small one that just goes on the front teeth that triggers your bite reflex, that those kind are very expensive. buckee
Try chewing some sugarless gum during the day, to help your jaw do something other than grind. and trust in the Lord for the rest. I do that sometimes myself. Never knew what it was called until now though.

Alisha
Thanks for all the replies! I'm happy to report that I've worn my mouth guard for the past two nights and have NOT had any headaches or jaw pain. It seems as the exercise I'm doing is helping also... not only my body, but my mind as well.
JJL
Here you go dear.................... http://cgi.ebay.com/MOUTHPIECE-MOUTH-GUARD-ADULT-SPORTS-KARATE-HOCKEY-TEETH_W0QQitemZ150333559203QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMartial_Arts_Equipment?hash=item150333559203&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 Check E-bay for others, but, this is what I use. Boil to fit (easy to do ). I've got mine ground down to the point that they look like those of a fifty year old horse. Last spring I had all of my front caps re-done and the dentist suggested a $400 custom mouth guard...................these work just as well. $1.99 beats the daylights out of $400. Good Luck JJL
Alisha
JJL - Those are very similar to the one I bought, except mine is blue and came with a plastic case to put it in. I can't believe how wore down mine already is after only wearing it for two nights.

I tend to grind my teeth a bit, If you knew my family you'd understand why.:D I keep telling my dentist that I'll get by until he gives me the new ones that sleep in a jar at night...........he finds NO humor in that.
