kody
I can not get a good pattern out of it it is an xxxfull choke .670 and I have shot winchester double x magnum 3 1/2 #6s 2 1/4oz and winchester #5s and xtended range 3 1/2 #5s what do you guys use. I have remington wingmaster hd 3 1/2 #6s but omp-n-choke said they were not good for the choke or barrle. Should I shoot them because they reccomend winchester extended range witch they are both 10% dencer than lead and 12g/cc harder. So why are they any different they both have round pellets to. I just dont under stand.
LifeNRA
Try shooting Winchester Supremes 3.5 inch #6's. I have the CNC XXX Full choke in my 835, and that is what this gun likes the best. But thats my gun. Don't forget to try Federal and others in the 3.5 inch size. Pattering can be expensive! But to find the right load you need to go through the process! DO NOT SHOOT THE HEVI-SHOT THROUGH YOUR CNC CHOKE!!! CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURE!!! Here is what hevi-shot can do to your choke! http://www.comp-n-choke.com/FAQ.html Good luck! Edited March 24, 2009 by LifeNRA
kody
Remington said wingmaster hd is hot a hevi shot it is a high density shot like winchester xtended range.
PotashRLS
My 835 shoots both Federal and Winchester 3 1/2" #6s 2 1/4oz. loads very very well. I shoot them through an Undertaker Choke usually. I have killed one bird at 50 yards but most are under 40. I have not lost one yet.......knock on wood:rolleyes: Maybe your gun doesn't like the CNC choke? My gun doesn't like every choke I stick in it either. Personally, I would go with what the choke manufacture says! They know, they test their chokes with ALL ammo! As long as they said it was ok. Try some Winchester Supremes 3.5" #6's. Born2Hunt
I shoot an 835 with that same choke tube. The only pattern I can get that is worth a darn is Winchester Supremes 3 1/2 #5 2 1/4 oz. I get about 130 holes in the kill zone at 40 yds.
Strut10
Try a Winchester Supreme 3 1/2" 2 oz. load of #6 lead shot.
punkinslinger
Try a Pure Gold .670 with 3.5" Hevishot 2.25 oz. 6s (bronze hull).
dbHunterNY
You never know what will work until you try it, but according to Comp-N-Choke the recommendation is 3" for #5 shot, and 3"-3 1/2" for #6. So I'd restrict your testing to different brands with that load. http://www.comp-n-choke.com/Hunting.html ...they show a wider choke if you move to 3 1/2" #5's or any #4's. That's the only input I can really give. - Dan
JimT
I shoot 3" Winchester Supreme #5 with that choke and get excellent results.
kody
I shot my 835 with the comp-n-choke today with winchester double x magnum 3 1/2 #6s I got 25 in the kill zone at 40 yards and I need to make a slite ajustment and I will get about 50 in the head at 40 yards my pattern is hitting low and to the left. So I am glade I got new trueglow ajustable sights from cabelas.
Strut10
You really ought to try the 2 oz. Winchester Supreme HV 3 1/2" load if you can. Fewer pellets in the shell. But they generally put more holes on target than the heavier 2 1/4 oz. XX Magnum load.
punkinslinger
Try a Pure Gold .670 with 3.5" Hevishot 2.25 oz. 6s (bronze hull). This combo puts 230 in a 10" circle at a measured 37 yards.
hand_cannon_man
just shot my 835 today........the only thing it likes is federal #5 2 oz. they usually come in 2 1/4 oz. but if you can find the 2 oz. give them a try and see how they work.......up to twenty bucks a box now which is ridiculous
