92xj
so you think for a grand i can get a descent gun and scope? and there's no scope that u would say is "universal"? yeah a grand could get you a real nice set up. A good "univeral" middle of the road scope would be nikon, bushnell. both great scopes and would do exactly what you wanted then to do. wtnhunt
what would be good dimensions or whatever you call em for a scope(8x10 or whatever)? also why does it seem like everyone always gets bolt action rifles? are they more accurate? First set of numbers is the power 3-9 or 4-12 are variable powers, the x 40 or last number is the size of the objective. Bolt guns are preferred by many hunters, but semi autos are capable of very good accuracy. Matter of preference. so you think for a grand i can get a descent gun and scope? and there's no scope that u would say is "universal"? For a grand, you could get a pretty nice varmint rifle and scope, I have just a little more than that in my AR. Nothing against the ruger, but if looking for a bolt gun I would still look at the remington model 700's and the savage model 10's if it were me. Both have varmint models that are capable of being very accurate.
jesse8953
BSA sells a 6x24 variable scope for around $85-$90 mill-dot and illumnating crosshairs. I have 1 on my 7mm mag and 1 on my .243, seem to be good scopes. Never had any problems:D I don't know if I would spend $1000 on a coyote set up, look at gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com I have had great luck with both just keep checking around. I have that same scope (Well did have) that I got from Walmart on my 10/22 and it would not withstand the recoil from the 22, i dont see how it would hold up to anything bigger than an airgun. I would shoot to try and site it in and each time i would move it, it would go all over the place. The recoil would move the crosshiars, so I figured I got a bad scope, took it back, got a new one, and the same thing happened, so back again I went for a 3rd time and after taking it back the third time I got a new fishing rod. Maybe my luck with BSA is horrible, but i just could not get it to site in.

I dont know about all their products but i do know about tires that come from Walmart and Sams club are different compunds and quality than buying from a tire specific type store, but dont know about anything else:confused: The only way i know about the tires is because i worked at a tire shop for five years. Anyhow, not to hijack this thread. Jonnyr you decide on anything or been doing any research and want any opinions???

Good choice in my opinion. How broke would you go? That all depends on you. How much do you plan to shoot, what type of shooting.
jonnyr7
well to tell ya the truth i'm not a really the type that shoots just to shoot, i pretty much shoot to get the gun sighted in, then after that i only shoot when i hunt. so i guess i really dont burn through that much ammo. Shaun_300
I got a brand new Tasco 8-32x50 for my .220 Swift for $130 shipped to my door. It's got the illuminated recticle and side parallax adjustment instead of having it at the end of the scope. Very clear scope! Just need to get different rings for it though, shooting wayyyy too low.
